"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

well nietzsche has nothing to do with the nazi ideology, the nietzsche ubermensch is always missinterpret with the nazi ubermensch. Nazi ubermensch is racial and nietzsche ubermensch is a philosophical concept of a man that would be superior not because of his ethni but because of his way of seeing things. Well, it seems a bit misleading to say that you hear "the pages of Nietzsche being opened and spun into lyrical form" if you're also going to affirm that it is a misinterpretation of Nietzsche's work to compare it with Nazism. Sure, you could MISINTERPRET Nietzsche's writings to the point where they seem aligned with these lyrics, but otherwise I don't see the similarity, or what you're even trying to say for that matter. You're saying that the lyrics seem very Nietzschean because they also seem very fascist/nazi-esque, but at the same time you agree that the true meaning of Nietzsche's writings would not support Fascism/Nazism. I wouldn't usually be such a prick to point out someone else's flawed and logically invalid comment, but you seemed to get rather defensive and sarcastic, so I figured why not.
