Heaven's A Lie Lyrics

Oh no,
here it is again
I need to know
when I will fall in decay

Something wrong
with every plan of my life
I didn't really notice that you've been here

Dolefully desired
Destiny of a lie

Set me free
your heaven's lie
set me free with you love
set me free

Oh no,
here it is again
I need to know
why did I choose to betray you

Something wrong
with all the plans of my life
I didn't realize that you've been here

Dolefully desired
Destiny of a lie

Set me free
your heaven's lie
set me free with you love
set me free

Set me free your heaven's lie
set me free with you love
set me free

Cristina Scabbia has told us what the song means so here what it means: Although frequently labeled as an anti-religion song, such an interpretation is mistaken. In an interview with HighWireDaze.com, leading vocalist Cristina Scabbia explained the meaning of the song; the word "heaven" is a metaphor for a "perfect life". When the phrase "your heaven's a lie" is used, it is referring to people who try to force their opinions on others

I think this song means pretty much what acetica says, it's about making mistakes and learning from them. The whole heaven's a lie thing is probably like the person thinking that they've done so much wrong, that they can't achieve heaven and are trying to convince themselves it's a lie. (I'm probably wrong though)

This makes me sad inside. I think its about begging your own emotions to set you free. You see the person (ex) and you just cant set yourself free from them. They've probably already set you free, thats why they are your ex. This shatters me. I can't explain it any better than that.

This song means that you see this person from a distance, and being with them seems so amazing...like heaven, but when you get with them it sucks, and that heaven that you saw was just a lie, and now you just wanna get out of the relationship, and you're begging the other person to set you free, and all the plans you made to stay with this person forever are wrong...at least that's what I feel it means

@Spyke That's my life in a nutshell (kicked nuts at that!) 26 years of marriage that was Hell gone with mine divorce. Even though she was verbally abusive, i tried and tried to make it work to the point of insanity (She told me to go kill myself and that I was just her sperm donor!) Still, I couldn't end it. She did! It hurt like Hell, but it was the best Christmas present she ever gave me! Now I am free! Heaven with her was a lie! Lacuna Coil is awesomes, i hate to see them compared to evanescence, true Evanescence used to be good but what have they written 3 songs since they released Fallen? they suck now

things in life are often not what they promise to be, and the whole caveat to temptation is how it promises one thing, but always delivers something else; what promises heaven lies to you, truth is more elusive than what is presented to us as such, and because of that we must continually search and peel back the layers of deception that bind us to what we think we want, otherwise once we get what we thought we wanted, we find that we are trapped and have lost all that really matters

This doesn't have to be about breakups or even the real heaven. I think it just about the realization that what you thought made you happy was just empty, a lie. A person maybe, you thought you could trust, but it turns out that they betrayed you in the end.

My Interpretation

Part of life is making mistakes. It is important to learn from these mistakes. The only way to learn is to have growth. Love is the ingredient to activate this growth, and this is how we know that we are free.
