I love how this song starts off sounding very sad but then all the sudden it gets happy.,..that part gives me goosebumps...I don't agree with you guys about this song being sad as well...but it's your opinion and you're completely entitled to it...I think the line I've completely lost myself and I don't mind relates to how she's lost the depressed person she used to be and now she's someone better...and she can't say no to this person because she's so in love with them not because they're supressing her...the part about the rain seems to say that she isn't used to something this good and she's waiting for real life to come back but it doesn't seem to be coming...this is one of my faves from the album |

I agree with beckah G the song seems to be about someone who hasn't found love "you'll be given love/you just have to trust it/maybe not from these sources" this line seems to say that the person is with someone who does not love them and they need to leave them to find real love...also deluge's comment also is very good...it does make sense after you watch the video...youtube it |

to me it seems like a song about being jaded(dunno if that's the right term) by the world... she's looking at the lines on her hands...talking to them to find out what went wrong in the previous years of her life yet there are no answers...she feels(as previously stated by others) dead inside and feels that death is the only release...possibly contemplating suicide...yet she prays for someone to find her...and stop her...so she will know someone cares and she wont have to go through with it.... |

I don't really like the idea of a person digging up anothers corpse...I mean it's kind of a beautiful deep devotion...but still not cool....I like the christian metaphor...it is surprisingly very fitting....
I interpret the song as not being as sad as many of you say... to me it is about a woman who has lost the man she loved more than anything...but she knows that even though he is dead, he is still with her and their love will live on after his death...and even after hers...this song is about a love so deep that nothing can kill it....so to me it is not sad...but so beautiful...that's why I love this song |

Okay...I love this song....I have listened to it at least 200 times...I think it's about the singer being in love with someone, but she did something to make him hate her, and now she hates herself. So she tries to get him to forgive her, but everytime she tries to get close enough to apologise, he seems farther away, and she feels like she can't breathe without him, but he still keeps getting farther away. |

Yup totally agree with the fantasy world, it allows her to be a child yet rule as a king, and she wishes she could live there instead of facing the brutal truth of life. She doesn't know if she'll be strong enough to face her reality so she go to her fantasy world. I love this song, I think it is my favorite, the guitar is haunting in the beginning. Cristina's voice is beautiful, and I love how in the chorus she contrasts the guitar chords. |

Just the title itself is amazing, it paints a picture of a strong masculine figure, and a woman who he will never see. The rays seem to be attention fom this hunter and there are none shining on the ghost, she feels as if he doesn't even care about her.
The chorus seems to me to be a fantasy/reality thing. In the first part she is saying that they're together and they'll never ba apart, and he will protect her from all her fears, but the reality sinks in and she realises she is alone and he will never be there to stop her from crying. She then goes on to say she dreams of him, one place where she is not alone. That is what i thought of the song, but after reading all of your guy's comments it does seem as if it is after a relationship, but I stick to my interpretation. This song is so beautiful. *tear* |

This song kinda reminds me or Everybodys Fool by Evanescence(sorry to you Ev havers out there), because it seems to be about someone who is popular or thinks she is better than everyone else. Perhaps the singer used to be friends with this person, but she became a total bitch just to become popular. I think the line about being under the shade is about darkness(lies) covering you, and living the way the singer does, in the heat, is a completely truthful life. Beautiful song |

Feels as if it is two people comforting each other and the person that Cristina is singing to is crying...deep in my mind I think that she has loved the person she is comforting for a long time and he just went through a rough time, and he goes to her to find comfort and theres an "inner dance" possibly a feeling of joy because she now knows that she means something more to him...it's kinda hard to explain, but it's just my opinion. I also think it blends into the meaning of Tight rope somehow because of how the music bleeds together, but I'm not sure how yet... |

I think the something the vocalist did was fall in love with someone who was not as they seemed "liar, you tempt me", and the person they fell in love with acts as if the singer isn't real, and the singer has decided not to "waste another day" on tring to make the person they care about care about him. |

Wow I thought totally different than all you guys...It's kinda weird but when I listen to it, it makes me think about vampires..I'm not goth or anything, but the line "We all live, We all die, That does not begin to justify you" seems to be saying like how vampires live forever and she can't understand what this creature is.
The first 2 lines seem to be Amy saying that she knows this person is a vampire because they don't hide their vampy half from her. The rest of the lines before "We all live, We all die" seem to be saying she saw the vamp kill someone. The chorus to me is saying that she refuses to belive in vampires, that they belong in dreams, not in real life. The next few lines after the chorus seem to say that she has to tell someone about the vampire. In the end she keeps telling herself that she must be dreaming, and I suppose she convinces herself that it was never real
Anyways, that is just what I think of when I hear the song, probably a side affect from being obsessed with Buffy. I'm not saying that your interpretations are incorrect. Thats what I love about Evanescence, I remember Amy Lee saying in an interview when asked about the meaning of My Immortal that it is up to the fans to discover their own meanings for her songs. |
