Just For A Moment Lyrics
Just for a moment
Everything I treasured was gone
Just for a moment
I faced my life alone
Oh how I love you.
Just for a moment
The world was full of pain
Just for a moment
My luck had finally run out
Oh how I love you.
The same thing that blew us together
Might blow us apart
So keep a piece of me precious
And close to your heart
Just for a moment
All of my nightmares came true
Just for a moment
My heart was broken in two
Oh how I need you
Oh how I'd miss you
Oh how I love you.
Everything I treasured was gone
Just for a moment
I faced my life alone
Oh how I love you.
The world was full of pain
Just for a moment
My luck had finally run out
Oh how I love you.
Might blow us apart
So keep a piece of me precious
And close to your heart
All of my nightmares came true
Just for a moment
My heart was broken in two
Oh how I need you
Oh how I'd miss you
Oh how I love you.

"The more you have, the more you have to lose." - Matt Hales
This is such an amazing song. And less sad than on first hearing it. He seems thankful that this person is still with him.
Its like realising how much someone means to you.
When I saw them live a few weeks ago Matt said it was about an experience he had a few years ago, when the band was tiny. He's a really funny guy, and so amazing live. But anyway, he was talking about doing a gig in germany (with a band playing 'acid jazz' - which he claims is the worst type of music you can imagine) in a brothel. So while he was doing the gig, his wife who he had recently married didnt want to stay in the brothel, so she wandered off. In his words "I dont know if you've been to dortmund, but in the daylight its bad - in the dark its f*ckin terrifying." So he wrote the song about looking for his wife in the dark streets of a german city. Thats what inspired him anyway - its about love, see the rest of the album :p
it wasnt dortmund, it was hamburg.
thought it was Dusseldorf. or perhaps that's in Hamburg?
This song is so reserved and hopeful sounding. For me, it encompasses that feeling of extreme relief to be proven wrong about something(in a good way)...like suddenly walking into heaven rather than having the floor give way beneath you into a lake of fire like you were expecting. :p
