September never stays this cold
Where I come from
And you know
I'm not one (I'm not one) for complaining (for complaining)
But I love the way you'd roll
Excuses off the tip of your tongue
As I slowly fall apart (slowly, quietly, slowly)
Fall apart
Is falling apart
Is falling apart
Is falling apart

As of this won't mean a thing come tomorrow
And that's exactly how I'll make it seem
'Cause I'm still not sleeping
Thinking I've crawled home from worse than this

So please, please (please)
I'm running out of sympathy (I'm running out of sympathy)
And I never said I'd take this
I never said I'd take this lying down

She says
"Come on, come on, let's just get this over with"
She says
"Come on, come on, let's just get this over with"
I never said I'd take this lying down (let's just get this over with)
And I've crawled home from worse than this
She says
"Come on, come on, let's just get this over with"

You always come close but this never comes easy
I still know everything
You always come close but you never come easy
I still know everything
This always comes close but you never come easy
I still know everything
You always come so close
I still know everything, I still know everything, I still know

You always come close but this never comes easy
You always come close but you never come easy
You're coming in, you're coming close

I never said I'd take this lying down
I never said I'd take this lying down
But I've crawled home from worse than this

If it's not keeping you up nights
Then what's the point?
Then what's the point?
Then what's the point?
Then what's the point?

I'm in your room
Is this turning you on?
Am I turning you on?

I'm in your room
Are you turned on?

I'm on the corner of your bed
I'm thinking maybe
Are you turned on?
Are you turned on?

The quote at the beginning of the song is from a movie called Beautiful Girls

a beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking jack and coke all morning, she can make you feel high, well the single greatest commodity known to man, a promise, a promise of a better day, a promise of a greater hope, a promise of a new tommorrow, this particular aura can be found in the gaze of a beautiful girl, in her smile and in her soul, and the way she makes every rotten thing about life seems like it's going to be ok... great intro, I love this song, great ending too, it sounds funny when you hear it until I put it in context with relationships, girl being horny as hell, so was I, but she didn't really show it, now I'm faced with it... great song

i like this 1 better than the album cause of the intro and because it is not over-produced (also cause its a demo, ha)

You probably can't download it. However, I'm sure that you could very easily go to the movie store and spend a couple dollars to rent it. It's also on TV sometimes, perhaps TBS or TNT. I've only seen parts of it, it doesn't look very good.

It's a great movie!! I ordered it from netflix (if you have a dvd player and like movies it's super cool) I totally recomend watching it... you'll have so much more respect for the demo version of this song too.

it's a crappy movie...but i'd rent it just to see the part with michael rappaport saying that quote cause it's so cute... the context he has it in is so much diff than the song makes it seem tho

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
