Definitely the mayday riots. Every time I hear this song I can't help wishing it was longer. Great song though.

Yeah definitely the Mayday riots, not just because of the song title, but because of the chorus:
" the mob goes fifteen ways i dunno which way to go the mob goes fifteen ways and my head ( my poor head) feels like a smashed window"
Sounds like he's describing being in the middle of a riot, a huge mob of people (the mob) and the "Fifteen ways" being how everyone is running around in different directions.
Ace song, short but sweet.
the first verse is about a dancer who has to work as a waitress to make ends meat. lovely song.

Is about how doherty took part in the riots, nd ended up getting smacked round the head by a copper whilst adjusting his hair in the riot shield. Hero!
The fact that each time it leaves you wishing it was longer proves that it was a brilliant idea to make it so short. Leave em wanting more - classic. What a way to finish an album! Sheer brilliance.
Apparently Banny, a lady who used to manage the Libertines, locked Pete and Carl into a room until they wrote some songs for the Up The Bracket album, whist they were locked in this room the Mayday riots were happening outside on the streets below, this sparked influence for Time For Heroes, and of course this song...
