Idle Hands Lyrics
Just a word
All it takes to set it off
Uncontrolled
All restraint has been lost
Absorbing more than I can stand
Of these self defeating unreal demands
Giving into frustration’s command
The devil makes good use of idle hands
Overwhelming desire to react
I am too far gone forever turning back
Looking for something to lash out at
Turning inward
It is myself that I attack
The anger grows inside everyday
Unquenchable
I have become my own prey
From where has this rage been spawned?
Been building deep inside for far too long
Forgotten memories buried and hidden
Creating my own emotional prison
Can it be that I have lost?
Control of my actions and my thoughts
All it takes to set it off
Uncontrolled
All restraint has been lost
Of these self defeating unreal demands
Giving into frustration’s command
The devil makes good use of idle hands
I am too far gone forever turning back
Looking for something to lash out at
Turning inward
It is myself that I attack
Unquenchable
I have become my own prey
Been building deep inside for far too long
Forgotten memories buried and hidden
Creating my own emotional prison
Control of my actions and my thoughts

How about some comments on the lyrics? This song appears to be about how anger, while on the surface directed towards the outside world, is ultimately a self-destructive force.
Correction on the Lyrics..... Overwhelming desire to react I am too far gone forever turning back "Searching" for something to lash out at Turning inward It is myself that I attack....

To put it bluntly and in the most straight-forward sentence I can think of: this song is about rage. Because of all the stress to give in to all of these demands by the world and the people around him, all the stress in him is building up to rage and is slowly growing inside of him, causing him pain through these unstable and wild emotions that he is feeling. The rage is hurting himself more than anyone else.
"I am too far gone forever turning back"
Think forever should be two words for ever turning back..
I think this song is about anger and frustration.
"Looking for something to lash out at Turning inward It is myself that I attack"
"The anger grows inside everyday Unquenchable I have become my own prey"
I think those verses are stating that he ends up taking his anger out on himself. I think his anger is making him feel trapped and makes him feel like he can bear what he feels inside and he feels like his mind is a prison.
its about bottling up anger from being told what to do all the time, and he's kept it in so long he's just snapped
