i can't stand standing here like this and i can't take taking any of this talk serious. i can't stand standing here like this and i can't take taking any of your talk serious. swimming eyes and spitting whys splitting ties we realize. missed kisses blown through blue night air. walking you home with a bottle of boones between us. we're trying so hard to forget who we are.

    My Interpretation

This song is about breaking up.

"I can't stand standing here like this and I can't take taking any of this talk serious." This is in reference to the break-up conversation he's having with his significant other.

"Swimming eyes and spitting whys, splitting ties, we realize." Swimming eyes are in reference to them crying (teary eyes). Spitting whys as in, "Why is this happening? Why are we breaking up?" "Splitting ties" as in they are splitting ties from one another. "...we realize" is the realization that the relationship is over.

"Missed kisses blown through blue night air, walking you home with a bottle of Boone's between us." "Missed kisses" could either be drunken, final, break-up kisses that simply missed their target or the lack of kisses being blown that would have otherwise happened were they not breaking up. As someone already mentioned earlier, Boone's Farm is a cheap fruit wine, supporting my claim that the two are getting drunk.

"We're trying so hard to forget who we are." Sometimes, we drink to forget. In this specific case, they're trying to forget that they're breaking up.

To add a bit more exposition to the song, "Forget Who We Are" was usually performed live paired right after "Olerud," in which the final line of that song is, "It's like you finally realize how lucky you really are to have had a few great heartbreaks." Using "Olerud" as a lead-in to "Forget Who We Are" further supports the notion that the latter is a break-up song.
