canine exhales my steam faced spit bath. tippy toed. noses nippy cold touch. i'm looking up through gnarling gashers through drooley jowls peering into my peer. canine ate seven sick five year olds. canine ate seven sick five year olds. baretoothed brawls lost. what they unmindedly kick. we shrug and barely bearhug. grapple down to the ground. it's the same ground grounding us. the same ground grounding those that ground us. a b c d e f g h i j k lost. time to move on they say. "i'm sorry, but you gotta go." i'm hoping once i'm a big kid and i look down to the ground it'll seem further away. canine ate seven sick five year olds. canine ate seven sick five year olds.

"canine ate seven sick five year olds" is one of the greatest lines ever written and sung.
i'm hoping once i'm a big kid and i look down to the ground it'll seem further away"- my senior quote
"im hoping once im a big kid and i look down to the ground it'll seem further away" is one of my favorite lines ever, along with the above 2 said lines, i love this band so much this band has kept me playing music since the day i heard them.. its so amazing to find an honest bunch of kids who play music.. well they arent kids anymore...but you know at the time they were young
"canine ate seven sick five year olds" 9 8 7 6 5 the word play is awesome, just cant figure it out . who knows, who cares makes me feel young again.
I really like the wordplay. I think its about growing out of friendships. Just when you realize it, when things don't seem as normal, the bearhugs. Sorta reminds me when I was a lot younger going to a friend's house, and their dog would always attack me, scaring the crap outta me being the same size and all. Does anyone notice the whistles in the ABC part?
The song is a collection of reflections about adolescence, weaved into a first person narrative describing a bout of wrestling with a beloved dog. This song captures all the emotions of youth so perfectly. I can't wait till I'm an old man, ruminating about my coming-of-age; I'll have this song to evoke the beautiful confusion of adolesence.
I think it's just the good ole' Catcher in The Rye-esque fall from youth. I say fall because it's more of a lamentation of not being a kid anymore. And it sort of sounds like he just wants to run from it without looking back, so he won't miss it when it's gone. Whenever he's a big kid, he wants the ground to seem farther away.
a tongue twister, but does it really have meaning...? i kinda don't get the abcdefghijk lost line either.
a b c d e f g h i j k lost was the singer forgetting to spell the rest of the alphabet.
I believe this song portrays the horrible social misdemeanors of this day and age as it was quite obviously written by a group of self hating, and self harming teenagers (commonly reffered to as "Emo's") who attempt to sound intellectualy advantaged through a constant use of heavy description and alliteration.
it's creative. i don't think they're self harming, or "emo".

Could the same be said about you? I'd bet my life you don't use this kind of diction when speaking to people whom you don't feel you have to impress.

P.S. Please get a better definition of emo. Its genre of music not a type of person.

Theyre not trying to sound intellectually advantaged, they just want to be heard, and this is how they wanted to do it.
