Dawn Of A New Day Lyrics
The thoughts from yesterday - forgotten.
I like the way this new skin feels
Bring me splinters of tomorrow
Collect the parts where I win
Against the grain
Against the odds
I’ll rise and I won’t trip again
The dawn of a new day
Never looked as good as this
Concrete breath and dust filled tears
A one-way ride to inner peace
I never thought I’d join the others
Those who use the dice to solve
Against the grain
Against the odds
I’ll rise and I won’t trip again
The dawn of a new day
Never looked as good as this
I like the way this new skin feels
Bring me splinters of tomorrow
Collect the parts where I win
Against the odds
I’ll rise and I won’t trip again
The dawn of a new day
Never looked as good as this
A one-way ride to inner peace
I never thought I’d join the others
Those who use the dice to solve
Against the odds
I’ll rise and I won’t trip again
The dawn of a new day
Never looked as good as this

A couple slow songs (good ones) doesnt mean there losing there edge.
He talks of forgetting the past and getting a new skin...a new life. It seems he is getting another chance in life by conforming to something-->"I never thought I'd join the others." He believes that his second chance or new life is something that is incredibly good...better than his last.

I agree that it is about a new life, but I think it may have something to do with messing something up before... or having the desire to change for the better.
"Against the grain Against the odds I’ll rise and I won’t trip again The dawn of a new day Never looked as good as this "

I think this song is About Starting over After all,Dawn of a new day,the Beginning of something."i like the way this new skin feels" the new life, starting over.also Against the odds and i won't trip again possibly, him not failing again, and not looking back at going back to his old-self despite the odds, him looking towards the future.
genetic engineering ...hmmm sounded good at the time
hey don't say this means they are losing their sound. look back at old in flames. the song timeless on the album Subterranean was a softer song. completely acoustic. even back on Lunar Strain they had some softer shit. Everlost [Part II] is a good example. so i don't think they are getting softer, i think they are difining their sound and staying the same, on almost every album they've had some softer shit. personally i like this newer direction In flames has gone.
Do not slander the "soft shit," for it is called evolution. If musicians never gained skill and composed the same shit year after year then they would be called AC/DC. If you understood half of what their lyrics were about you'd know that they are meaning to become better people and trying to push for a better society. So then why cannot they change by adding melody to their vocals? What did you enjoy most about In Flames before, the melodic riffs or the poetry screamed? Or perhaps it was the combination of both which made them unique. It doesn't even matter, cause at every moment everything is changing in every way, and if you cannot see and accept that then you're in for a life of misery. Do you often wonder why your girlfriend turned into a bitch? Do you suppose she wonders why you became an ass? And how about that new spice on the Wendy's chickenburger... what the fuck were they thinking?
Wow, I ever liked the "softer" sounds of In Flames most! This Song is great!
Oh man! no way that Maggot just said in flames sucks cause they got a soft song. Soft Rock is the BEST way to display all iof a bands potential and skill. Anyone can bang really loud on a drum set and sing really loud, but it takes skill to play with a full, decent, beautiful sound such as what is displayed in this song.
