A whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper
A whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Remember your face
Who remembers you when you are gone?

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Come back and look for me
Look for me when I am lost

Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper
Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper

Night turns to day
And I still have these questions
Bridges will break
Should I go forwards or backwards?
Night turns to day
And I still get no answers

Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper
Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Remember your face
Who remembers you when you are gone?

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Come back and look for me
Look for me when I am lost

Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper
Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper

Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

This is an uplifting, eerie, crazy, out of control, beautiful song. I really like it, but it puts me in a crazy mood.

The way I interpret the song (drawing from my experiences too), is that he's waking up and doesn't want to face the day. He is confused, the alarm keeps going off and he went to bed thinking that the next day would be better, but it's not.

Remember your face and remember too, where you are wrong. (He remembers his love's face, and he remembers too well the wrong that he did to her)

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks, come back and look for me, look for me, when I am lost. (He feels very lost without her. He wants her to come back to him, to confort him because he is lost, so lost without her)

Night turns to day, And I still have these questions, Please just refray, Should I go forwards or backwards. Night turns to day, And I still can't go back to you.(or still have no answers) (He goes to sleep, hoping that things will be magically solved in the morning, only to realize that when night turns to day he is still confused of who he is and what to do, he has no new answers or solutions, and he can't go back to her, he's still confused)

"Just a whisper" could mean many things. It might mean that all he needs is her to whisper to him something, maybe wishing she was next to him telling him things would be ok. Or the whisper could be thoughts in his head driving him crazy.

The song has an out of control feel. Some may say that he is hung over or stoned, but I feel otherwise. He is waking up and feels desperation about his life and his love. Trust me, the feeling of this song has gone through my head many a mornings.

There is a definite theme on the rush of blood to the head soudtrack and that deals with time and not having enough of it.

the song starts with a guitar that reminds you of a tick-tock rythm and remains in the backround throughout the song. it is time beating on.

then he begins with a whisper rythmically 8 times at this point it is that whisper that time is running out in the back of your head.

these lyrics are wrong. the first verse is "I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Who remembers your face Who remembers you when you are gone" he says he knows time is running out and wants to know how you live on after death.

"I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Come back and look for me Look for me when I am lost And just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper" here he is saying I know I will die and I want to be remembered so look for what I've left behind. here the whispers mean that all you leave behind when you die is a whisper of yourself.

"Night turns to day And I still have these questions Bridges will break Should I go forwards or backwards" night turns to day is time passing by, briges will break are all the hard times in life and you dont know where to go next. in asking should i go forwards or backwards he is asking what to do in the hard times.

"Night turns to day And I still get no answers Just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper A whisper, whisper, whisper" time passes and there are still no answers just the wisper of time running out.

" hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Who remembers your face Who remembers you when you are gone

I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Come back and look for me Look for me when I am lost And I am just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper" this is repeated suggesting that this is a pattern of life, everyone goes through this. I go through this and when I die another generation will go through it.

the song ends with the whisper of time, forcing you to hear the clock counting down.

It was hard for me to warm up to this song - and I still don't think it's particularly deep - but the words "look for me when I am lost" are so very desperate and moving ... it makes up for the shallowness in the rest of the lyrics.

Why are there only two posts here? This song is beautiful. It has a different sound from the rest of thier music. Though I do believe that a couple lyrics are wrong here. Such as, "Night turns to day, And I still can't go back to you." Im pretty sure he says, "Night turns to day, and I still get no answers." Awsome song. Colplay rocks and always will.

There aren't a lot of comments to this song, but I like it. It's quite different than the majority of the tracks on the album so it's refreshing to hear something different in the middle of the CD.

I love this song, from a choral standpoint its very dynamic, I like how the "whisper"'s are almost said in a whisper, you want them to be, but Chris keeps them just at the longing point... they never do dissapear.

I love this song. I was totally surprised to read the first comment-- "shallow?" I was getting all warmed up to proving them all wrong, and then "silver_bs" destroyed my opportunity. sigh the sorrows of life.

Anyway, I think the whole song has this awesome feel to it-- that's the first thing that drew me in. It's not about love-- silver's totally right about the lyrics thing, someone needs to get that fixed. It's this guy, trying to figure out his place in the world-- realizing that everything, even himself, even his questions (answered or otherwise), are only a whisper, soon to die out and certainly not to be missed.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
