Boombox Generation Lyrics
there’s no consolation prize
there’s no prize for consolation
all stuck in the middle
between what is and what might be
a great sensation
has swept the nation
everybody wants the image you’ve got for sale
with massive compromations on your part
but buddy you’ve taken the nation
check it out the new teen beat model of the year
struck down from the pillar
short lived is all you’ll ever be
a once great sensation
has wiped out the nation
your message is no longer for sale
and no proclamation
will return the station
you held onto while the rest of us moved on
as not quite sensations
but mere subatomic particles of the nation
we’re happy if our songs get heard at all
so bring forth donations
for the boombox generation
that’s right
don’t be afraid
of what you say
'cause anyway
is the only way
there’s no prize for consolation
between what is and what might be
a great sensation
has swept the nation
everybody wants the image you’ve got for sale
with massive compromations on your part
but buddy you’ve taken the nation
check it out the new teen beat model of the year
struck down from the pillar
short lived is all you’ll ever be
a once great sensation
has wiped out the nation
your message is no longer for sale
and no proclamation
will return the station
you held onto while the rest of us moved on
as not quite sensations
but mere subatomic particles of the nation
we’re happy if our songs get heard at all
so bring forth donations
for the boombox generation
that’s right
of what you say
'cause anyway
is the only way

Yeah, I think it's talking about how easily influenced teens of this generation are by music and the media in general.
"everybody wants the image you’ve got for sale" probably refers to the fact that people tend to clone the style of celebrities, or try.
And also how much music is always changing, how you can be popular and Billboard chart topping and then the next day you've been replaced.
about half way or a minute into it. a little voice goes "my sister loves you guys" or something to that extent.
this song is great! I think it has to do with the general climate of the music scene - phony images, flava of the month artists who come & go, and how radio stations play the same crappy songs over & over
The voice really says: “my sister is totally into you guys”
i didnt notice the voice till like the millionth time i heard it....i was soooooooooooo excited nd i listend to it like an extra million times....lol
i kinda feel like its about how people are really concerned with how they look....or maybe like 1 hit wonder type bands....how trends kinda come and go and people get way too into it....
also in the booklet in the album it says thanks to the boombox generation, so its like, we complain about all our favourite artists going mainstream and about these bands that come and go, but at least they were there in the first place..
if that makes any sense.

hey smart one! xD i cant belive laurenhasissues! c'mon haven't you been to their website?! the boombox generation is thier STREET TEAM!!!!!!!!. yes and i am a proud member. lol. we promote the band with poster and stuff in coffee shops, booksellers, music stores, and anyone who will listen. i remember standing with my friend one time with an old school boombox, and our free t-shirts. oh yes and the attention getter cardbord sign that said "motion city or bust" ... we played thier new cd, and accually gained SOME new fans. most people just gave us a dollar or something...
this song is prolly my least favorite on the album
this song talks about the fickle media just strings along one band at a time, and they will come and go. But the message is to say what you want to say, not what will get you famous because either way, fame or no, the important thing is you were honest to yourself. ~the leaky sink of sentiment
This song is about the next big thing and how anything can just jumps out and become extremely popular. its like when a band comes out of no were and everyone wants to know about them and the people who were with them all along are just pushed on the backburner .
