Brett explained at the last salt lake city concert that this song was written when they were on tour between salt lake city and denver....it was very snowy and they had to cancel the denver show because it was to dangerous to drive down in their bus...they barely made it to the SLC show...just 20 minutes before they were supposed to play!

Taken literally, Brett's car veers off a cold icy road, possibly with someone else in the car. Look deeper and I think this song tells the story of a loved one who has passed away. The "white day" that comes once a year is the anniversary of that someone's death. Or flip it around and this could be a positive song about a couple's anniversary or something along those lines. This song is pretty free to interpretation and I like it that way. It makes your mind wander...

fifissofun is completely right as far as i know. I believe they had a lot of chances of getting into a major accident, I think this emotional time of almost death inspired him to write a song about this experience, never the less It's an awesome song! Great vocals, especially live in the Bridge...
