Being Gabriel Lyrics
The clouds disperse there's a rainbow,
With big eyes looking so pure,
That say everything about everything,
Been giving me chance to grow old.
No one will be more loved than him,
Cause he's caught by the safest of hands.
If he cries tears will be wiped away,
By the ones who created this man.
Asleep in a tender world,
Waiting for.
He sleeps in a perfect world,
Waiting for.
I wish I was as pure as you,
I wish I was as pure as you.
I wish I was as pure as you.
With big eyes looking so pure,
That say everything about everything,
Been giving me chance to grow old.
Cause he's caught by the safest of hands.
If he cries tears will be wiped away,
By the ones who created this man.
Waiting for.
He sleeps in a perfect world,
Waiting for.
I wish I was as pure as you.

Possibly about a child, and the writer wishing to be as innocent and untainted as the child?
I think this song is about religion. The rainbow is supposed to be a reference to Noah and of promises from God, which is what Jesus was fulfilling as well. Jesus died so that people could grow old, and in return people love him. He seems to have a pretty easy life because he's got angels watching over him to wipe away his tears... but ultimately he's waiting for a pretty gruesome death. In the meantime though the child's life makes sense, he's completely pure and he has a very definite purpose... something most people today don't really have. The singer is wishing that his life were so straightforward and so pure.
gabriel was the archangel who could not contain evil, he was the uncorrupted. the singer (or whoever hes speaking as) wants to be pure and uncorrupted again, but he cant because hes been through and seen too much, he envies the figure of gabriel as a symbol of perfection.
