Domestic violence. Nickelback really has an interisting choice of themes. I think it's really good they chose this one, though. The only part that I don't get is when he says "She's just a women". Does he mean that because she is a women she shouldn't go through such things? Cause that wouldn't fit, usually it's the male partner that beats his wife up. Does anyone has ideas about that one?

Pretty simple set of lyrics about domestic violence. Chad and his brother grew up in Hannah, Alberta, a few hours away from Edmonton or Calgary (take your pick). Most of their early stuff is about what they lived through in a small town before they got famous - primarily shitty relationships, drinking problems, and drugs.

right on jacgrrl! the song talks about an abusive husband who liked to drink. his poor wife got smacked often and she tried to protect the kid by sending him/her to the room. finally the wife had it and blew the husband away with a gun. i think she should've just divorced him!
While I haven't actually heard this song (yet), the words cause this image in my head resembling the video to "Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks. My own situation has been fairly decent, hubby knows better than to lay a hand on me. NO one, man or woman deserves to be beaten.. But tell me, what kind of a song would this have made if it just ended in divorce? Needed the extra impact.. can't wait to hear it set to music.. =)
I think this song is good, I mean its not good shes gettin beaten but its good that ppl r realizing dat this is happening, the thing is dont understand is how can a man do that to a woman, its just not right!
This song is great. I heard it once when a friend played the cd and I just had to look up the lyrics. Although I have never been put through this type of situation (thankfully), I have seen the effects which it has...My father had a druken and abusive father, he died when my father was only 15. Although I never met him, I do see the effects that this one person has had on an entire family...So if your ever in this situation please talk to someone, don't be to scared to stand up for you rights and get outta there!
This song hits extremely close to home with me. I was adopted when I was two years because my abusive father was a little too abusive one dark fall night in '78. I consider myself to be lucky, given that I was spared the influences of alcoholism by my biological parents due to my father's death and my mother's imprisonment. Anyway, this song is my life in a nutshell.
