Been hearing about you.
All about your disapproval.
Still I remember the way I used to move you.
I wrote you a letter.
I heard it just upset you.
Why don't you tell me?
How can I do this better?
Are you out there?
Do you hear me?
Can I call you?
Do you still hate me?
Are we talking?
Are we fighting?
Is it over?
Are we writing?
We're getting older.
But we're acting younger.
We should be smarter.
It seems we're getting dumber.
I have a picture
of you and me in Brooklyn.
On a porch, it was raining.
Hey, I remember that day.
And I miss you.

The guitars throughout, especailly the intro riff, but also the chors in the verse and chorus, create a beautiful sense of atmosphere and a feeling of strong, almost overpowering emotion. The bass is melodic and fits percectly to create a mood alongside the guitars and drums. It seems to me that during the verse, Blake is trying to make sense of a deeply hurtful breakup in his head, because each line is a statement and shows a relative degree of certainty. Suddenly, in the chorus, all of the lyrics become questions. I believe that this is because he tries and fails to think about what happened in a clear and balanced way, and because he felt so emotional and deeply uncertain, confusion takes over and instantly becomes his state of mind, and his mind is filled with unanswered quesions about her.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
