This must be the place.
I can tell by your glare.
I wouldn't touch you on a dare.
Seven month to June and even then, so what?
My mouth is open, my book is shut.
My air guitar is out of tune.
My stupid hair is so '82 to you.
At least I don't fit in.
Corner me in Chemistry.

It's all just simple math to me.
Call me your names.
Make them stick.
I'll laugh until
I am sick.

Glad that that's all through.
Got better friends than you.
Just can't remember where I left them.
I'll see you all in class. Not if
I ditch first.

Expect the best, except the worst.
Walk until your blush subsides.
Drink beneath the 405 in the ivy
And think about that girl.
Two grades below.

She pierced her nose way before it was cool.
Some older guy with a motorbike
Picks her up after school.
This school's a living hell.
I work and don't get paid.
I smoke a lot but can't get laid.

Sit and stare, it's all we do.
All my friends are broken, too.
We're just waiting.
Waiting to begin.

i love how this song expresses life being like a perpetual high school experience. all the lyrics not only apply to being in school, but stand as metaphor for life in general. its so sad and sweet.

wow i cant believe there are so few comments on this song, it's one of my favorites. their whole "dear you" cd completely rocks... they have such great lyrics... i can totally relate to this song, it reminds me of my hellish middle school experience a lot. the last few lines Sit and stare, it's all we do. All my friends are broken, too. We're just waiting. Waiting to begin. are so completely excellent... those words perfectly express the frustrations of having to go to school and dealing with the stupid authorities there and everything...

"Some older guy with a motorbike picks her up after school", i can relate to this, i would see how this older guy would take the girl i liked in front of my eyes, and theres nothin i could do. girls always like older guys, i suppouse youre too immature at middle school.

Great song. Quintessential high school experience. Let's see what Blake covers... social hostility, bad hair choices, ostracism, ditching class, embarassment, thinking about a girl, and general school apathy. Sounds just like my time at high school.
