This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Remember a day before today
A day when you were young.
Free to play alone with time
Evening never comes.
Sing a song that can't be sung
Without the morning's kiss
Queen, you shall be it if you wish
Look for your king
Why can't we play today
Why can't we stay that way
Climb your favorite apple tree
Try to catch the sun
Hide from your little brother's gun
Dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun
Why can't we blow the years away
Blow away

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Holiday

Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
more than just the loss of innocence, but the tragedy of realizing your limitations.
Climb your fatal apple tree try to catch the sun
This could suggest that a child may climb a tree to reach out towards the sun, only to realize that there is a limitation restricting their glory of owning such a thing as the sun.
@Mesa XI excellent interpretation
@Mesa XI Nope - wrong words! favourite apple tree.
@lawrenceok yet this doesn't mean his interpretation is wrong. <br /> The song could be about what he has said, just because he mis-heard the lyrics doesn't mean he is wrong.
@Mesa XI Favourite apple tree
Notice the similarity to "Time" from Dark Side of the Moon.
'Why can't we reach the sun why can't we flow the years away flow away remember a day... '
'So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time. Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines'
I found this interesting
@Gasketfuse I have to comment on this I think this particular song more than any other by Floyd sounds like a Syd Barrett composition. Reminds me of early early Floyd like see Emily play or Arnold layne, just has that feel. I love Floyd but with the departure of Syd one has to admit that Floyd became more serious and somewhat more depressed really lyrically, Syd was playful and used imagery and nursery rhymes for the love of god! this song captures that playfulness that seemed to depart from the Floyd with Syd's departure. Just my opinion
@Gasketfuse Nope - wrong word. Blow the years away.
@lawrenceok once again, this doesn't mean he is wrong. He merely misheard a lyric.
a song about losing the innocence of childhood
Remember a day before today a day when you were young Free-to play along with time evening never come
Sing now a song that can't be sung without the morning's kiss Queen- you shall be it if you wish look for your King
Why can't we play today why can't we stay that way?
Climb your favourite apple tree try to catch the sun hide from your little brother's gun dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun why can't we flow the years away flow away remember a day...
@seashellz Blow the years away
@seashellz The actual lyric is 'blow'.
One of the best off of Saucerful. It reminds me of other nostalgic songs, such as: Fat Old Sun Grantchester Meadows Strawberry Fields Forever (Beatles)
all of which are very good.
i consider this the best early floyd song
@Rut I would agree best early Floyd but you forgot to say best early Floyd without Syd. That is the difference Syd with Floyd has maybe 5 or 6 songs better than this one, or at least right up there with it, but I agree with you a wonderful song
The good old days, youth, carelessness, and days before the band was constantly fighting are missed
its sadly happy and not hopeless.
^Agreed.
Great song.
Was this written by Rick Wright? I've read that it was, in which case I would be surprised, as it doesn't sound like him (lyrically).
Rick probably wrote the music to it, then Roger added his lyrics after it was composed.
@inpraiseoffolly Remember Richard was the most influenced by Syd, they were the ones who were connected the most MUSICALLY in the band. This is a Syd song written by Richard
seashellz beat me to it
