Waste Lyrics

I'm lookin' at my watch
At all the time that's been stolen
When I was carryin' you
Seems I've tripped and I've fallen

Don't want no one to ache
Oh, to be drunk and forgetful
To get out of this unscatched
Oh, to be free and inhuman

Some may say
I love to play
When the chance is there to take

I'm moppin' up the floor
From messy recipies of romance
I'm packing up the pots
Too many cooks in the kitchen

Some may say
I love to let
A good thing go to waste
I let it go to waste

Let a good thing go to waste
A good thing go to waste
Let a good thing go to waste
A good thing go to waste

I'm lookin' at my watch
At all the time that's been stolen
When I was carryin' you
Seems I've tripped and I've fallen

I interpret this as that the speaker was in love, but well, let it go to waste. :P

Great song!! It seems to be about someone who doesn't care about something good that he has (a girl, a good lifestyle) and lets it get away

I agree but he probably treated her like shit. The way it's worded it sounds like it was his fault.

I really like this song. I think it’s really about the break up of a relationship. Perhaps a relationship that he stayed in too long. There is some clues that the relationship went on too long, as he talks about the time that’s been stolen, and him carrying her, which I interpreted as meaning that he was carrying the relationship for both of them. The song ends by analogy that others believe that he may have made a mistake , But I don’t believe that the singer believes that that’s the case

My Interpretation

@glwpsyd - I get the same thought. Who "stole" the time is questionable, but he clearly thinks he was carrying the relationship. It's almost like he forfeited time. It's his own fault. Been there, so maybe I'm projecting or filtering. But that's what interpretation of the arts is for, projecting and filtering (and maybe learning) to end up with a personal experience.
