Hemorrhage (In My Hands) Lyrics

Memories are just where you laid them
Drag the waters till the depths give up their dead
What did you expect to find
Was there something you left behind
Don't you remember anything I said when I said

Chorus
Don't fall away
And leave me to myself
Don't fall away
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands
Love lies bleeding

Oh, hold me now I feel contagious
Am I the only place that you've left to go
She cries her life is like
Some movie black and white
Dead actors faking lines
Over and over and over again she cries

Chorus

And I wanted
You turned away
You don't remember
But I do
You never even tried

Chorus

Ok... I think this song is about a guy getting dumped by a girl, then she comes crawling back, and hes like "oh no, i dont think so, not now, not after what I went through"

Heres the breakdown... I believe this song is actually like a conversation

First "memories are just where you laid them, Drag the waters till the depths give up their dead (basically just about memories) then "What did you expect to find, was it something you left behind? Dont you remember anything i said when i said..." see he is saying "dont come crawling back after i already told you not to "leave love bleeding in my hands!"

then she cries about her life and feeling contagious and SHE then says or then she cries... "dont leave love bleeding in my hands again"

Then he says ... "and i wanted (to stay together) but you turned away... you dont remember (or act like you dont) But IIII do HAHAHAHA ho "you never even tried" (this is your fault)

Has anyone watched the video? It's about losing his girlfriend because she had a hemorrhage and died. It shows the funeral in the video. "You don't remember But I do" She doesn't remember because she is dead and she has left him with these memories of her death and he desperately wants her back.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THATS WHAT HE MEANT...ESPECIALLY WHEN I SAW THE VIDEO

@mandyjohnson31 I highly doubt the song is about that. Remember back then, videos were cranked out fast from suit type people. They don't care what song about, has 'hemorrhage ' in title, its about someone bleeding out. And besides what does "leave love bleeding in my hand AGAIN" mean? Again?? How many women has this guy been with that have died?

I've never seen the video... But just hearing the lyrics, to me it sounds like it's about an ex that broke his heart, maybe just used him, & keeps coming back. The chorus sounds like him begging her not to leave him, but then she does & later on comes back after she screwed him over, & he can't take the pain of her being around. "Memories are just where you laid them" - We had some great memories, & you effed it all up & just left them. I haven't picked up the pieces yet. "What'd you expect to find? Was there something you left behind?" - Why are you coming back when you made it clear you were done with me? Just my take on it. Great song either way :)

Desperation can rarely be conveyed well in music. It's outstanding in this song though. You haven't experienced this song until you've seen the video. You'll see it a new way.

i agree entirely

This song is about not realizing how much you love someone until they are gone.

If you have seen the video to this song, you will notice its more about the male character having an epiphany on just how much he loves his girlfriend/wife. What I see happening is that he is sitting on the his porch day dreaming. Once the daydream starts you'll notice the ghost figure of himself come out of his body, and the screen gets a black ring around it. The black ring represents that the scenes are all in his day dream he is having. Alot of the "black ring" scenes move in freeze frame further supporting that its a day dream. He goes through the house and notices odd things like the water running and the phone off of the hook. He makes it out back and then sees his girlfriend/wife on the ground aparently after have a serious accident of sorts. Some people see this as her having a miscarriage because she was holding her stomach, but I believe she herself is mortally wounded. The reason I think this is because after the sequence were he is trying to help her, it shows several pictures of her, like he is remembering her. It also shows a scene where he is dresses up in a suit and tie and puts flowers on the chair (the same chair that was shown knocked over in her death scene). I think he is dressed up because he just came back from her funeral to his now empty house.

And then is cuts back to the front porch. The black ring disapears and his girlfriend/wife comes out the front door. After having this day dream he realizes how much she means to him and immediatly hugs her and is happy to see her. Some peopel think she looks pregnant standing up in this scene, but to me, it looks as if the wind was simply blowing up her dress. She looks skinny when she is hugging him. The lyrics and the video work very well together. Very good stuff.

Awesome song - it obviously can be applied to many situations but I heard a radio interview with the singer and he said it is about his grandmother.

Oh and another parallel:

Memories are just where you laid them

He hasn't progressed in any way since their split...he's still just where she left him...he's still bleeding from this...

...isn't that just how it always is?

I just love his voice in this song! My favourite bit is when he says 'Oh, hold me now I feel contagious' because he sing it with such emotion, it's just awesome! Definately one of my favourites!
