I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. Has anyone watched the video? It's about losing his girlfriend because she had a hemorrhage and died. It shows the funeral in the video. "You don't remember But I do" She doesn't remember because she is dead and she has left him with these memories of her death and he desperately wants her back.

They don't care what song about, has 'hemorrhage ' in title, its about someone bleeding out. And besides what does "leave love bleeding in my hand AGAIN" mean? Again?? How many women has this guy been with that have died?

I've seen the video, and maybe I missed something, or am off. But sounds to me more like a couple going through a miscarriage. The guy not knowing how to be there for the girl emotionally, or at leaat in a way that she needs, which tears them apart temporarily. But in the end of the video you see them hug, which I think is signifying that they've worked through it. Miscarriages can be really rough on a couple, and it is difficult for men to even closely relate to what the woman is/has gone through, which can spark some issues, and can lead to a lot of anger and frustration
@mandyjohnson31 she doesn't die she is pregnant and loses the baby he never calls 911 and she hemorrhages while miscarrying his baby. He is saying that guy left love bleeding in her hands again meaning he left her laying there on the ground bleeding losing the baby they made with love and that he remembers what he done but she hasn't a clue that he waited to call 911 because he didn't want the baby and she wouldn't abort like he wanted. When you miscarry you bleed and if the miscarriage is caused by a fall or some sort of trauma the chance of hemorrhaging goes up significantly. I have had a few myself and know that when he says leave love bleeding in my hand in my hands again she was bleeding and he was far away in his own selfishness and he regretted his decision like hindsight is 2020 type thing. She wanted the baby he didnt she falls and starts bleeding, he sees shes bleeding and runs to call 911 but hangs up before talking to anyone. <br /> It cold also be interpreted as this he sees the blood on his hands constantly bc he was leaving when she fell and lost the baby and he did not get her any help so he is blaming himself for the loss of the baby made with love and that he has blood on his hands and she has no clue that he chose to not get her help which may have saved the baby and this is constantly on his mind that it keeps replaying and he wishes he had done things differently because he hates what he has done and now wishes he had saved the baby that he now loves because again hindsight is 2020 and a decision you make in the heat of the moment may be a bad one that you regret the rest of your life had you known what was going to happen you would never had said something or done something in the first place. We are human we make mistakes but some mistakes we will regret the rest of our lives and that was how I interpreted the video and the song. I hope that was understandable I have ADD with rapid thoughts and will ramble on in circles and I dont realise it until aftetwards.

He laid a bouquet of flowers like you would bring to a girl on a date, he was dress like he was taking her out but she was gone,he placed the flowers on a lawn chair in the backyard, I hope you have experienced life some since this post was left, it is exactly what others said, he loves her and she throws it away and wants it to be the same when she decides to come back.
I've never seen the video... But just hearing the lyrics, to me it sounds like it's about an ex that broke his heart, maybe just used him, & keeps coming back. The chorus sounds like him begging her not to leave him, but then she does & later on comes back after she screwed him over, & he can't take the pain of her being around. "Memories are just where you laid them" - We had some great memories, & you effed it all up & just left them. I haven't picked up the pieces yet. "What'd you expect to find? Was there something you left behind?" - Why are you coming back when you made it clear you were done with me? Just my take on it. Great song either way :)

Desperation can rarely be conveyed well in music. It's outstanding in this song though. You haven't experienced this song until you've seen the video. You'll see it a new way.

I agree with you smooth. This song is definetly defined by the video. This to me has one of the most touching, beautfiul videos i have ever seen. It just shows you how much you can love someone without even realiznig it until its 2 late.
