The sky was dark this morning
Not a bird in the trees
And silence hung suspicious and anxious
Like a blanket covered scream

And you were gone
You were not there for me
And i cursed the sky and begged the sun to
Fall all over me
This life's not living, baby
Living ain't free
If i can't find my way back to me
Let the sun fall down

All my friends are searching
Quiet, desperatley
Look into their eyes and you'll see the faithless crying
Save me, save me, save me

And what are they to feel
And who are they to be
And what am i to do with, do with me, but let the sun
Fall all over me
That's not living, baby
Living ain't free
If i can't find my way back to me
Let the sun fall down over me
Let the sun fall down

Until my eyes cry out
'Til my head is free from doubt
'Til my lungs sigh right out
'Til I'm wiser

Let the sun
Fall all over me
This life's not living, baby
Living ain't free
If i can't find my way back to me
Let the sun fall down over me
Let the sun fall down

I think this is a great song about a man just out of a relationship trying to recenter himself after losing someone he loved very much.. A LOT of Fuel songs seem to be about break ups.. Like the male band version of Alanis Morissette.

This song means the world to me. I'm getting these lyrics tattooed on my arm soon as a constant motivation to myself.

I think he's singing about the weakness he feels because of something and he feels betrayed and alone, like a weak shell of what he used to be. But in the chorus he makes a promise to himself that things WILL get better and if he can't find his way back to himself and the person he once was, the sun can strike him down and burn him where he stands. He's going to recover or die trying.

I agree with everyones opinion on the song. I think this is their best song to date. It is terrific lyrically and the way Brett sings it is as good as most.

Personally i dont see how this song isnt even more popular. The tune is awesome, especially the beginning guitar and drum intro that gives it a really quiet and eerie feeling. The lyrics are beautifully written as well, i think it really displays a feeling of hopelessness and demotivation in a unique way.

To me, this is an extremely meaningful song. On a personal level, I relate it to the death of my friend, which changed my life forever. It left us all a bit lost and robbed us of a piece of our youth. This song, for me, expresses that perfectly.

This is my fav. song by Fuel. I think its about a person who's lost themself and the one person that could make them come back isnt there for them anymore.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
