Divine Intervention

I found the meaning of this song guys! I was reading a french book about Slayer and it says that Tom revealed in an interview in 2006 that it's based on a movie where five guys go camping and one of them gets abducting by aliens. They end up finding him naked and insane in the forest a few days later... An added interpretation would be that the guy who got abducted is trying to express how he thinks that he's supposed to be in the presence of God because of all this light and strange stuff going on, but in reality he has no idea what's happening. I think this is the reason why the cover of the album shows outer space in the background. Anyways, I love the song, it's so spooky and depressing, I love the solos and I especially love the creepy clean tone parts of the song. Send me a reply and tell me what u think...

This song to me signifies how everthing can be just how you want it, but because others don't agree or believe the same way you do. So they have to start fucking pushing religion in your face when you didn't ask for it. I hate the whole fucking holier than thou shit everyone always tries to put in your way. "Oh you need to ask God to forgive you". Why, I din't ask to be in this piece of shit world to begin with, don't tell me I'm in your prayers I didn't ask for them. If God is going to help me, where the fuck is he. I've tried all churches and whenever you question or contradict something they're pushing on you, then they want nothing to do with you. I'm done with looking for God only to have him turn his back on me. Divine Intervention-God interfering in something he had no business doing so to start with.

This is simply brutal song! As like most of Slayer songs, this one is too about losing sanity in one way. I believe this could also refer to the so called Divine Intervention of prophecies of Book of Revelation, but in different view. The victim or the sentenced person of the song has simply been interfered by the God for his aim to become god himself; Just like happened to Lucifer according to bible. Just what the mankind aims to, to survive for eternity, become the master of universe. Yu know, the first time I listened to this song, I was terrified, cuz I had never heard anything sick as this :D. This is an ultimate judgement of eternal death by god. Yes, that is what I believe this song is about.

This song is about being trapped in a hypnagogic state. Your body becomes parylised and you experiance vivid and often terrifying hallucinations. I've experianced this before. Has anyone thought that the reference to god in this song need not be to the god worshipped in most popular religions? Think alien abductions, and even beyond that, think alien creationalist theories... These beliefs aren't my own, but the lyrics do seem to fit, even if you want to use the term 'hypnagogic' (master exploder, I'd be interested to hear how you came to be in that state...). These guys seem to have a knack for putting across some 'interesting' views (Angel of Death is an obvious example) - love 'em, love the song.
