Shadowkings Lyrics

A spiral movement, the ultimate mystery
Will you show... will you show who you are?

It's the truth that untrue suspicion is
Spreading like a disease
Do you know if it is real?

Voices appear inside my brain
Their need, to set me free
Onward they lead before the dawn
Teach me what's right from wrong

Encourage the madness they welcome impurity
I don't know.... I don't know.... who I am!
Fallen blind to the cruel hysteria that's
Constantly challenging
Me, all alone... all alone... can't be real

Voices approve I can't relate
Their need to celebrate
Onward they lead before the dawn
Teach me what's right from wrong

Voices approve, the quest begins
Fuel for the shadowkings
Onward they lead before the dawn
Teach me what's right from wrong

Cover art for Shadowkings lyrics by Paradise Lost

This song is basically about religion. Reminds me of a Nietzsche quote; "A casual stroll through through the lunatic asylum shows that faith proves nothing". Good song.

This is just my humble opinion and interpretation. The lyrics may refer to the hallucinations associated with crystal meth. These are known as "Shadow people" and reportedly dark human figures or sudden movement seen from the corner of the eye. Rightly so, these hallucinations may cause psychological symptoms such as paranoia and anxiety .

Reference: "A spiral movement, the ultimate mystery Will you show... will you show who you are?"

"Voices appear inside my brain Their need, to set me free Onward they lead before the dawn Teach me what's right from wrong" My all time fave PL song btw🙂
