Grade 9 Lyrics
Words and Music by
Andy Creeggan, Jim Creeggan, Steven Page,
Ed Robertson & Tyler Stewart
I found my locker and I found my classes
Lost my lunch and I broke my glasses
That guy is huge! That girl is wailin'!
First day of school and I'm already failing
Chorus
This is me in grade nine, baby, this is me in grade nine
This is me in grade nine, baby, this is me in grade nine
I've got a blue-and-red Adidas bag and a humongous binder
I'm trying my best not to look like a minor niner
I went out for the football team to prove that I'm a man
I guess I shouldn't tell them that I like Duran Duran
Chorus
Well half my friends are crazy and the others are
depressed
And none of them can help me study for my math test
Got into the classroom and my knowledge was gone
Guess I should've studied instead of watching Wrath of
Khan
Chorus
(Jim) They called me chicken legs
(Andy) They called me four-eyes
(Steve) They called me fatso
(Tyler) They called me buckwheat
(Ed) They called me Eddie
Chorus
I've got a red leather tie and a pair of rugger pants
I put them on and I went to the high school dance
Dad said I have to be home by eleven
Aw man I'm gonna miss Stairway to Heaven
Chorus

Sounds like they remember high school all too well. It's all so... true. Especially "Well half my friends are crazy and the others are depressed /And none of them can help me study for my math test /Got into the classroom and my knowledge was gone /Guess I should've studied instead of watching Wrath of Khan." I'm sure it's happened to all of us... well, maybe not watching Wrath of Khan, but the rest of it. It's happened to me, anyway.
even though im only in junior high, it really does remind me of my schooling. "Well half my friends are crazy and the others are depressed /And none of them can help me study for my math test" makes so much sense to me.
:D That's what I love about BNL. There songs are so simple, yet so interensting!
This song remeinded me of the first weeks of grade nine. A few of the band members actually went to my highschool, so it always reminds me of the ninth graders that come in every year. Its a good song, pretty catchy and i like the lyrics. They're realistic.
the pop culture references are great. totally BNL style. also, i heart: "(Jim) They called me chicken legs (Andy) They called me four-eyes (Steve) They called me fatso (Tyler) They called me buckwheat (Ed) They called me Eddie" didn't we all have horrid nicknames?
I know what you mean. I have the unfortunate last name of Gross. need I say more? It didn't help that I was (and still am) a total nerd
It didn't help that I was (and still am) a total nerd
Who cares man.... nerds rock!
Grade 9 sucked for me.... the most bullied kid in my class... and yes half my friends were crazy and the other half were depressed
Yeah, grade 9 was fine for me... but half of my friends are crazy and half... well, more than half of them... are depressed. And I suck at math. So, yeah, I love BNL. They write about both depressing and fun things at the same time. Is fun.
I love how this song totally captures that kind of High-School-sucks-but-I-dont-take-it-too-seroiusly mentality that I know that I personally, have.
Personally, I really like High School so far.
