I Know Lyrics
I know why I like you
It's 'cause of your clothing and your haircut
And 'cause you're racist
I have a match; your face,
My asking your questions you can't answer
You want to box me?
Our world works in a weird way
I've heard them say a man with a beard may
Frighten children or dogs but a moustache scares me more
I know why you bite me
It's cause of your instincts and your canines
And 'cause I kicked you
I have a bone to pick;
Please go on the paper, and fetch me my slippers
And stop meowing
Man's best friend wags his tail and
Bares his teeth to the man with the mail and
Though he's frightened of thunder he never goes to war
Tell me what's the circumstance of circumcision?
And what goes in my daughter's pants is whose decision?
I've seen the facts of inter-race realtions,
Of see-though slacks, of cyber-masturbation;
If a hundred monkeys each could get their own show,
Perhaps one day a chimp might say
“You have faith, you just need to use it, sayth the Lord”
I know why I like you
It's 'cause of your sandals and your supper
And 'cause you're Jesus
I have a match; your Dad, my dad has
Your picture right next to your mother's,
And one of Charo
They hold hands up in heaven
And they say that their son's name is Kevin
But I read in a book somewhere that his name is Jack
It's 'cause of your clothing and your haircut
And 'cause you're racist
I have a match; your face,
My asking your questions you can't answer
You want to box me?
I've heard them say a man with a beard may
Frighten children or dogs but a moustache scares me more
It's cause of your instincts and your canines
And 'cause I kicked you
I have a bone to pick;
Please go on the paper, and fetch me my slippers
And stop meowing
Bares his teeth to the man with the mail and
Though he's frightened of thunder he never goes to war
And what goes in my daughter's pants is whose decision?

I think this song is a lot less random and meaningless than most of you guys do, imo. I agree with Zamrod that it's social commentary, but I think there's more specific meanings than that.
The first verse seems to be about racism, and the typical teenage superficiality of romance. "I like you because of your image" But I think the speaker is being sarcastic, he is looking at/talking to an attractive, but racist person, and feeling angry and violent, "I have a match; your face, you want to box me?"and he knows that he could argue his non-racist beliefs with this person "My asking you questions you can't answer"
The next part, about the facial hair I think is also about racism. I think the beard symbolizes minorities, possibly specifically Arabs and Mexicans, and I think the mustache symbolizes Hitler, who the speaker finds scarier than these minorities.
The verse about dogs is comparing them to people, and how they are dogs, they are not intelligent as people are, but they don't kill each other over politics and religion and land.
Next verse is about sex and religion, imo. And the last verse, I think is about religion, but also more generally about how everyone percieves things differently, even things that are "facts". And I think that makes the title of the song very ironic, if they are saying that noone really knows anything, they only have a perspective of it, which I believe is true.
this is probably an example of their motto of "if it rhymes, its a good song"
This is so completely random... most likely it doesn't mean anything. It's fun, though.
It is very random.....but I most of it is about a dog "my dad has Your picture right next to your mother's, And one of Charo" it is refering to a pic of a dog and there are several more obvious refrences to a dog
I'm confused by this song. You think in the beginning it's about a girl, but then a dog, but then Jesus. I think it's about Jesus though. That's what fits in with all of the song if you'll notice. Especially the end. The part about monkies is like a teleevangelist. And many people have photos of Jesus and his mom lying around. Especially his mom praying. Charo could be in there for fun or just to show something I'm not aware of.
Sanjuro, I think it's a bit of a mocking look at religion, as its implying that, given enough monkies, one of them would say what preachers say.
lol, thank you Lukasa for the clear up, cause you're right.
This song is so out there that only BL could do it. It's them :)
Sanjuro, ya just looked at the song too hard. The point to the song is there is no point! Dur :P
I don't think this song is completely pointless. It appears to be a commentary on society. But it appears to mostly make the point that life is confusing and random and difficult to make sense of. Which it is.
The Jesus line, if you listen to the song, is yelled like someone say....stepped in dog crap. In other words its a swear.
I don't know... But this song has grown on me over the years... because it's well-written despite all the words running together into a giant random mess. But then again, I love Ed.
