Ooh, face in a screw
Ooh, racing to prove
You never remember
The blossom sender
Still in a rub a dub style
Long time see troubles are brewing yeah
Stick to the way you rock it and know that
You'll cope with that
Not gonna let it sit til I say
How dope was that
Keep you head pumping til you get in the zone
Not giving up not going home
Nobody can really say cuz nobody really know
Only thing that matters if it's funky to you
You got a choice of what you can do
Ooh, face in a screw
Ooh, racing to prove
You never remember
The blossom sender
Still in a rub a dub style
Nobody can really say cuz nobody really know
Only thing that matters if it's funky to you
You got a choice of what you can do

ahh..i love this song so much! It's such a great song to relax to...one of my favorites.

Love Nicks voice! :)

This song is really really great, it's the defenition of "peace of mind" the beat is so happy .
It's like if I was on a paradisiac island !

It's the perfect kickback song, right down to the suggestion that you got a choice of what you can do.
I'm just having real trouble READING these lyrics. Whoever typed them was probably engaging in 311's favorite hobby, if you know what I mean. ;)

This song makes me so happy. So fun and beautiful =)
Wow, 311 is amazing!

In summary: It's about being in the groove or the trance like state in a dancehall.
The definition of rub-a-dub is the beating of a drum, which has roots in nursery rhymes. However, being that 311 are Bob Marley fans I believe "rub a dub style" was lifted from Marley's song "Bad Card" on the uprising album, in which the chorus it is stated: "In a rub a dub style." Marley's song is about social change and basically making change through disruption, ie., loud music. "Rub a dub style" for Marley is a type of dancing. An all encompassing trance dance.
The first verse is from the DJ's perspective, the "blossom sender" if you will. The first three lines describe the musical art, possibly scratching, where can he take the music to vary and impress you. Then ends the verse by basically saying, it doesn't matter because you won't remember me or what I'm doing.
The second verse runs along the same lines but it's noted that the "DJ" or music provider is runnning into difficulty keeping things interesting in the music.
The rest is about being in the trance like state. The whole song is progressive. Meaning, when it begins you aware of the DJ but through the end you entranced and the DJ becomes nothingness.
Hope that makes sense. Main thing is it seems to be highly based on Marley.

Raz... That was the best breakdown of a 311 song I've ever heard in my life...
