One Lyrics

Affirmative may be justified take from one give to another
The goal is to be unified take my hand be my brother
The payment silenced the masses sanctified by oppression
Unity took a back seat sliding further in regression
(chorus)
One oh One the only way is One
I feel angry I feel helpless, want to change the world
I feel violent I feel alone, don't try and change my mind
Society blind by color why hold down one to raise another
Discrimination now on both sides seeds of hate blossom further
The world is heading for mutiny, when all we want is unity
We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together
(chorus)

It's mostly about racism and how screwed up our response to it is.

"Affirmative may be justified take from one give to another"

Affirmative action... which ends up taking from someone more qualified and giving to someone just b/c they're a minority.

"The goal is to be unified take my hand be my brother"

Right... but our current path won't unify us (Unity took a back seat sliding further in regression).

"Society blind by color why hold down one to raise another "

Obvious reference to racism...

"Discrimination now on both sides seeds of hate blossom further"

But now racism isn't just whites hating blacks, there's racism on all sides.

"We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together"

Increasing hatred is just going to hurt everyone in the end.

ok good for you who hate creed now get out of here! I love this song why does everything have to be so messed up in america?

This song is about Racism and how the "law" tries to correct it, It is clear to see this in the line "why hold down one, to raise another" Affirmative action as it is called is based on a quota system of sorts....

Say for example, Harvard university get 100 applications a year..... 12 from black and 82 from white...... According to affirmative action They must accept 1 black student for every 9 White students thye accept..... even if all of the blacks are ranked in the lowest 12 of the applicants...

So because of that, smarter white people ( just saying that for this Example, Believe me I hate racism...) sometimes get rejected for a black person who is less capable for the position...

Regardless if you agree or disagree Hate creed or love creed, I cannot see how you can hate this song, I am a die-hard Pearl Jam fan and I can Still enjoy this song, because it seems to be so pure, Society needs to be blind to color as opposed to by color....

I love this song,.....

But much of the rest of everything by creed save for a few songs.... I dislike....

This song is saying that affimative action is creating a new kind of racism because it is unfair to people who aren't minorities.

I think this song is about not being able to change something...kind of like youre only one out of like 3 billion you don't get to make the difference. Your opinion doesn't matter; but in the end we all meet whats coming to us as one, together.

"The world is headed for mutany when all we want is unity" Another plee for ending racism, we want to love each other but we are just destroying ourselves. This is a great quote!
