For Evangeline Lyrics
in one night you made me your own the deepest embrace's creation i layed there for days and you forgot in one night you made me your own in one hour you gave me away to the angels you sent me up to the sky now their wings fan the heat from the face you'll never see the hair you'll never smell the little hands you'll never hold now i am but a silhouette down there a silhouette of a memory of a solitary night nothing more.

this is definetly about abortion...such a powerful song, and it hits deep to me since i'm pro-life as well
this song is about abortion. he is deeply saddened that people create life (babies) in one night and just throw them away...hence "in one night you made me your own the deepest embrace's creation." and "you made me your own in one hour you gave me away to the angels you sent me up to the sky" and "a memory of a solitary night nothing more."
yeah, definitly what hugme said, "the face you'll never see the hair you'll never smell" hence because they never had the baby they never saw it's face. Not to mention the line right after that says "the little hands you'll never hold" note the word little, like a child. The fact that these guys are Chistians and most likely disagree with abortion also helps push the validity of this interpretation.
It could almost not be about abortion, if it weren't for the "in one hour you gave me away" and all that. It could almost be about a stillborn child... but only halfway.
Mentioning this: They ARE a christian band.
Yeah, I mean if you know anything about The Juliana Theory, you would know that they always say "WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND". But, now I understand this song being about abortion. And if it is, then.....wow. This is the best song probably written about that. "the little hands you'll never hold"....I mean...these lyrics are just amazing. Brett is a genious. I don't think anyone else could write a song this touching. This is now my favorite song on the CD.
I don't think so. I think it's about how he had this wonderful night with a girl he loved, probably had sex with her. It meant a lot to him, but in one night she forgot about it.
i agree with way2emo.
I got to go with hugme. I didn't understand this song until hugme said the word abortion and it all made sense to me right then. When I thought of a girl before, it just didn't make sense or click. Plus, the thought of an emo guy taking a stand for something like that and in such a passionate way was the raddest.
