Tokyo Girl Lyrics

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
you've got the moves to rule the world
that cute inscru-tability
Tokyo girl, you're a mystery

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
shaking up hearts around the world
you can't forget that stunning face
smiling at you it's your destiny

she's got the face sweet as a baby
elegant taste and money to burn
her "yes" is "no", "no" is a "maybe"
her language is so hard to learn

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
you've got the moves to rule the world
that cute inscru-tability
Tokyo girl, you're a mystery

in Tokyo

though there's a fire burns inside here
outside is ivory, silk and ice
nothing she wants is denied her
you'd better take my advice

many has tried to get near her
deep in the heart of Tokyo
found nothing there but a mirror
she's no one you'll ever know

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
you've got the moves to rule the world
that cute inscru-tability
Tokyo girl, you're a mystery

in Tokyo

she's got the face sweet as a baby
elegant taste and money to burn
her "yes" is "no", "no" is a "maybe"
her language is so hard to learn

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
you've got the moves to rule the world
that cute inscru-tability
Tokyo girl, you're a mystery

Tokyo girl, Tokyo girl
shaking up hearts around the world
you can't forget that stunning face
smiling at you it's your destiny

in Tokyo - sweet as a baby
in Tokyo - sweet as a baby
in Tokyo - sweet as a baby
sweet as a baby
sweet as a baby
sweet as a baby

I love anime and this song reminds me of all the teenage girls that are the heroines of most of the japanimation. This song pretty much sums up what happens in those shows. The girls are mysterious and live double lives one as a normal girl and then they save the world over and over.

I prefer to think of the mystery woman you will never find..

I think this is probably referring to a someone fascinated with (most likely) the ideal Japanese girl. The person doesn't quite seem to understand the fact that this ideal is nothing more than myth and is unrealistic and finds themselves tricked by a girl using her charms and looks to get what she wants from this person. She seems to also seems to be indirect and ambiguous to the person, which may not be entirely her fault due to Japanese culture. It also seems to be portraying that her doing this is inevitable to the person. Also in the part

"Many has tried to get near her Deep in the heart of Tokyo Found nothing there but a mirror She's no one you'll ever know"

I think, refers to her being nothing but a myth still and that many have tried to find someone close to this unrealistic ideal, but only found merely a reflection of the ideal in this fake girl. They're also warning other people looking for this unrealistic ideal, that trying to find it is just a waste of time.

My Interpretation

Also, just to add, I think this also might be referring to Geisha, which while not fake - are definitely there for nothing more than to entertain in return for money.
