Joe Lyrics
There was a time I was so lonely
Remember the time, it was a Friday
You made me feel fine, we did it my way
I sat on your knees every Friday
I still recall you...
I see you in summer...
Joe... Joe...
I sat on your chair by the fire
Transfixed in a stare, taking me higher
Precious years to remember
Childhood fears I surrender
I still recall you...
I see you in summer...
Joe... Joe...
Remember the time, it was a Friday
You made me feel fine, we did it my way
I sat on your knees every Friday
I still recall you...
I see you in summer...
Joe... Joe...
I sat on your chair by the fire
Transfixed in a stare, taking me higher
Precious years to remember
Childhood fears I surrender
I still recall you...
I see you in summer...
Joe... Joe...

You guys know that it is about Delores' grandfather, right?
I had a guy that i was like totally in love with and still am..........his name was Joe how weird is that....this song says everything about how we were.
same here. it's a bit mad coz i only just discovered this song aswell, and it's lovely. Brings back lots of memories.
joe... me too.
well even though im a guy i have to admit this song is beautiful and that i kinda wish my name was joe lol...yes a punkrocker likes the cranberries so what?!
one of the best songs ever!! i really cant believe only 5 comments were posted for this song
this is my favourite cranberries song. it's so beautiful. i always thought that it's about a boy she maybe fell in love with one summer and she promised him she'll be back next year or something like that... but the grandfather idea also makes some sense,
Yeah, the Cd was named To The Faithful Departed because it was dedicated to Joe (Dolores' Grandfather) and Cordell (Danny Cordell), both of whom had recently passed away when the album was being composed

Yeppers.Dol loved her grandaddy...
What are the missing lyrics she sings right before the line "I still recall you"?

Thinking about this now, I can completely relate. My Grandad wasn't called Joe, but people actually referred to him as Joe because of the name of his business. I'll never listen to this song in the same way again.
