There was a time I was so lonely
Remember the time, it was a Friday
You made me feel fine, we did it my way
I sat on your knees every Friday
I still recall you.
I see you in summer
Joe, Joe
I sat on your chair by the fire
Transfixed in a stare, taking me higher
Precious years to remember
Childhood fears I surrender
I still recall you
I see you in summer
Joe, Joe

General Commentthis is my favourite cranberries song. it's so beautiful.
i always thought that it's about a boy she maybe fell in love with one summer and she promised him she'll be back next year or something like that... but the grandfather idea also makes some sense,

General CommentWhat are the missing lyrics she sings right before the line "I still recall you"?

General CommentThinking about this now, I can completely relate. My Grandad wasn't called Joe, but people actually referred to him as Joe because of the name of his business. I'll never listen to this song in the same way again.
