Since I Lost You Lyrics
It seems in a moment, your whole world can shatter
like morning dreams they just disappear
like dust in your hand falling to the floor
how can life ever be the same
cos my heart is broken in pieces
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone
It's all too easy to take so much for granted
oh but it's so hard to find the words to say
like a castle in the sand the water takes away
but how can life ever be the same
cos my heart is broken in pieces
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since I've lost you
oh now you'll never see
oh you'll never know
all the things I planned for you
things for you and me
Held your hand so tightly
that I couldn't let it go
Now how can life ever be the same
cos my heart is broken in pieces
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone
cos my heart is broken in pieces
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since I've lost you
cos my heart is broken in pieces
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone
like morning dreams they just disappear
like dust in your hand falling to the floor
how can life ever be the same
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone
oh but it's so hard to find the words to say
like a castle in the sand the water takes away
but how can life ever be the same
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since I've lost you
oh you'll never know
all the things I planned for you
things for you and me
that I couldn't let it go
Now how can life ever be the same
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since I've lost you
yes my heart is broken in pieces
since you've been gone

I agree with you. 'Since I Lost You' IS a beautiful song about heartbreak, and 'Fading Lights' is about remembering all the memories of and loving life.
This is a beautiful song.....so sad. It is also a known(or maybe not so well known) fact that Phil Collins wrote this song following the death of Eric Clapton's little son Connor. Collins wrote this song for the child and his father....makes it even sadder to think about it....
amazing song
The song on the whole is obviously a song about loss, not necessarily romantic, but the lyrics are general enough that anybody that you love, be it family, friends, etc, can relate. In my case, it resonates a lot with the loss of my girlfriend, now ex, of 3.5 years. Despite the issues we faced, there was a lot of corrective action and effort on my part to make it work, maybe too late, but thats what I resonate with the most in this song, when Collins sings
"like morning dreams they just disappear like dust in your hand falling to the floor how can life ever be the same",
and I think with any type of heartbreak, life really never is the same. It will be different, it has to be. I think especially when the heartbreak is unexpected, it amazes the person how many things you subconsciously plan are no longer possible. Like that, the next morning, you wake up you realize that you will never see those things come to fruition. It is a VERY bitter pill to swallow.
such a sad song but i love it!
precedes fading lights on the we cant dance album. i like to look at the two as a combo detailing the coming to terms of the death of a loved one.
firstly the disbelief/heartbreak. things were left unsaid, before they knew it it was all too late.
secondly (fading lights) the realisation. the memory still remains but the effects have made the person value life and those around them.
hey im prob wrong (being as i just made this up i dont think its too bad!!)
ah well
very sad song it always makes me cry! :( one of my favorites songs ever!
In an interview, Phil Collins mentioned that this song is dedicated to Connor Clapton, the son of Eric Clapton who died after a tragic accident.
