And I knew, I was close to you
And I knew
Catch me flying, in the sun
Catch me drinking, of your wine
I'm gonna put something in you
Make the devil feel surprised
All your sisters wanna fly
Around my golden sky
Around my golden sky
Just because you feel, hollow inside--it's real
Just because you feel, hollow inside--it's real
I'm gonna put something in you
Make the devil feel surprised
Make the devil feel surprised
And I knew I was close to you
And I knew
Catch me flying in the sun
Catch me drinking, of your wine
And I knew
Catch me flying, in the sun
Catch me drinking, of your wine
I'm gonna put something in you
Make the devil feel surprised
All your sisters wanna fly
Around my golden sky
Around my golden sky
Just because you feel, hollow inside--it's real
Just because you feel, hollow inside--it's real
I'm gonna put something in you
Make the devil feel surprised
Make the devil feel surprised
And I knew I was close to you
And I knew
Catch me flying in the sun
Catch me drinking, of your wine

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Haha, this is definitely one of those totally druggy songs of theirs. You're right, Unmasked, the meaning of it is so baffling and obscure I can't really comment.
I love this song, but what the hell is it even about? Maybe that's the whole point. The music is gorgeous, but it's meant to be hazy and confusing lyrically. Maybe I'm too dumb to figure it out. It sounds almost like she has intentions to haunt someone.
I don't gain the same meaning as the one above when I hear the song, but that's a decent and understandable way of interpreting it. It'll just continue being a mystery to me.....
I think this song is about a man that broke off a relationship with the singer badly, and possibly for other women. In the end, he tried to make it seem like she was nothing to him, even though she was ("I knew I was close to you.")But in the end, she uses the break up to her advantage, and her life ends up being better because of it ("Catch me flying in the sun").

"All of your sisters want to fly/around my golden sky" = All of the girls he's with now wish they could be half the woman she is.

"Catch me drinking of your wine" = She's going to give him a taste of his own medicine.

"Just because you feel hollow inside, it's real" = I think this might mean that this guy only responds to negativity.
Well, tynkerbelle I think you hit the nail on the head....its about getting back of someone that she loved who hurt her. She felt that her lover cheated on her"all your sisters want to fly around my golden sky" to me they all wanted whated to have or had what she had her lover. "Just because you feel hollow inside is real"...I think she is saying now you know how I feel...felt....she does use the break up to her advantage...she wanted revenage....Catch me drinking of your wine" = She's going to give him a taste of his own medicine.
Funny I know someone just like this.....damn.
