Cry In The Sun Lyrics
I’ve lived the “Hope I never see the price of my freedom” for 23 years. But I see it all the time. That’s a hurt that we have to live with whether by cause or not. I heard this as I was going through a divorce after 20 years of marriage and this song reminds me of how nothing goes unaffected. Life is good and we can enjoy it through the struggles. Try as we might all damage can’t be repaired but it can teach us. There are a couple other songs that deliver the same emotional response “Hearts on Fire” by Scars on 45s and “Baltimore” by Counting Crows
ohhh this song is sooo beautiful!! i first heard it on a CD that my exboyfriend burned for me right after we broke up. i was sifting through all our old pictures and it came on my stereo and i just started crying. i think it's very nostalgic.
I'm still yet to hear this song but I just read the first verse and that alone brought me to tears. So many people can relate to that.
I just stumbled on this song the other day and I cant stop thinking about it. Or playing it. I cant believe its not on their greatest hits album. It haunts me like no other song that I can recall.
As far as meaning goes, it's pretty straightforward, but oh my God is the imagery beautiful. You can feel in the lyrics all those sensory memories that come rushing back when he finds that old photo.
"The Devil's beating his wife" is a Southern expression for the weather phenomenon of rain and sunshine occurring at the same time. I don't know whether "cry in the sun" is a common term for it, but it certainly evokes that image. Part of his memory of that summer rainstorm in the shed? A metaphor for the simultaneous joy and pain of his relationship with the girl from Carolina? I think it's both.
