Down Lyrics
Pleased to meet you
Nice to know me
What's the message?
Will ya show me?
I've been waiting
A long time, now
Now here's the answer
You're all mine now
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl, now
Pleased to meet you
Nice to know me
What's the message?
Will ya show me?
I've been waiting
A long time, now
Now here's the answer
You're all mine now
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl, now
Will you follow me down now, down now
Will you follow me down now, down now
Will you follow me down
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl, now
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl
Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl, now
Pleased to meet you
Nice to know me
What's the message?
Will ya show me?
The way down town?
Nice to know me

Come on guys, this song is not about sex at all...
This is song is about marriage proposal and the girl saying yes, "You're all mine now". He gives her very high regards and compares her to holy Sunday and been awaiting this day for a long time, "Ya, I've been waiting for my Sunday girl".
He is also asking her if she loves him as much as he loves her and is will to do anything for him, "Will you follow me down now, down now". What do ya think.
exactly... damn i love this site lots of good insight to my favorite songs

I think that's a great interpretation.

@Abstruse I agree with this interpretation. It seems like in the first verse that repeats throughout the song he is asking for the right way to ask the girl. And then at the end of the pre-chorus he gets his answer. Then the chorus is the relief of stress because he has been waiting a long time and finally got his answer. Its nice to see other people taking it further then "sex or heroin".

STP IS ****ING AWESOME!!!!
you dont need to censor yourself... this is the internet

I think the song is about sex as are a good number of STP's songs. "I've been waiting for my Sunday girl," has anyone ever heard the following expression? I'd do her six ways from Sunday. This is clearly what Weiland means when refering to his Sunday girl. The song is about waiting a long time to meet that one girl that will turn your world upside down.
HEAVY HEAVY ASS RIFF... so fucking sweet to listen... and the solo? perfection
not about heroin not about marriage not about an ex wife
songs about nothing just pure melody lyrics
and theres nothing wrong with that at all
@SmashingPumpkins500 Actually this one is about running and fighting for his life, literally. Some guys in Paris took him out to the woods and tried to kill him. At least, that's what he said in his autobiography, "Not Dead and Not for Sale." Most of his songs have deep meaning (aside from "Big Bang Baby"). "Sour Girl" is about his divorce from Janina and how he couldn't be there for her because he was on heroin.

I think this song is mainly about heroin (it’s often referred to as “down”), although it could be also about waiting for a sex worker (Sunday girl) to come and bring the dope to him. Sunday is generally the slow day of the week (for resting) so he’s waiting for his relaxing “Sunday girl” to come and bring him his heroin and they will probably hang out together as use together. That’s my interpretation anyway
