Let's Have A War Lyrics

There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many

Let's have a war; So you can go die!
Let's have a war; We could all use the money!
Let's have a war; We need the space!
Let's have a war; Clean out this place!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many

Let's have a war; Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war; It could start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war; Blame it on the middle class!
Let's have a war; We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many

There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many

Let's have a war; Sell the rights to the network!
Let's have a war; Let our mothers get fat like last time!
Let's have a war; Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war; The enemy's within!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's too many
There's too many of us, there's too many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's too many of us, there's too many
There's so many of us, there's too many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many
There's so many of us, there's so many of us, there's so many

Yeah, it's not "There's so many opposites", he mainly says "There's so many of us" but in the final chorus he alternates between "There's so many..." and "There's too many...". It's clear to be heard.

Lee on SNL:

"Hello, this song is about how much we love you. This is the... this song is for everyone of you that voted. This is for Republicans and Democrats alike! 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4!!!"

Well, this lyrics are not that hard to interpret. He has lust for war. There's just to many of us so we have to go and kill each other :) And USA will, of course, profit from it. I kinda agree. A few millions of us less and we can breath easier; we would have more space :D We could use all the money means higher taxes etc...

Or, he might be sarcastic. World War I and II where just like that. USA wallets got fat, people died, meaning more space for rest etc...

I really like this song. It's great and also a bit paranoid (We're like rats in a cage!).

My Interpretation

@damjan992 He's definitely sarcastic. It's obvious.

@vigorousj Well of course he is. But... is he really?

Sarcasm is a great way of expressing your feelings and thoughts that are not generally accepted in a society - like a lust for war. You can go and express your deepest and darkest imaginations through lyrics like this, your wish for killing and domination and truly mean all that. Just say: "Hey man, I'm just a sarcastic guy.", and all will be good and you are a functional member of the society.

Nah... I was just sarcastic. Of course there's lyrics are a sarcasm at its best....

I thought I heard that too. Well, the damn meaning of this song is obvious, the ulterier motive of war in this song is money and population control

It's simple - everybody wants to blow up New Jersey, even people like me who've never been there :|

Also a stab at the 'ruling classes' and the whole, detached from reality, concept of them.

There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us, There's too many of us

@funk49 I always hear too many of us too. Also, I think some people miss that these early punk writers liked to take on the role of the villain in their lyrics.

This is one of their better songs. The meaning is very obvious as all up to now have pointed out. Its a quality song as opposed to most of their stuff.

What the fuck? These are the lyrics I sent in a while back, under "Let's Have A War (Actual Lyrics)", yet I get no credit in providing the correct interpretation? Come on.
