Chattanooga Choo Choo Lyrics
Step aside partner, it's my day!
Bend an ear and listen to my version
Of a really solid Tennessee excursion...
Yes, yes, track 29!
Boy, you can give me a shine!
Can you afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo?
I got my fare
And just a trifle to spare.
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore
Dinner in the diner, nothing could be finer
Than to have your ham and eggs in Carolina
When you hear the whistle blowin‘ eight to the bar
Then you know that Tennessee is not very far
Shuffle all the coal in
Gotta keep it rollin'
Whoo Whoo, Chattanooga, there you are!
Satin and Lace
I used to call funny face!
She's gonna cry
Until I tell her that I'll never roam
So Chattanooga Choo Choo
Won't you choo choo me home
Get aboard...
All aboard...
Chattanooga Choo Choo
Won‘t you choo choo me home...!

Hard to derive a meaning when the lyrics are so straightforward and obvious. I think the intent here (since it was wartime, and Glenn Miller was a military band leader) was to give the soldiers fond memories of home while they were overseas.

I dont know a whole lot, but I think that this song was out before the war started but that might not be right. I do know it is refering to the Chattanooga train line that went through Chattanooga TN which is now a museum.
@MayorMenley According to wikipedia, the song was composed in 1941, which is after WWII started, but before the US entry to the war.

thisa songs about returning home to his lover after being away for however long and he'll get to her by train

I think the song is about a girl that sees a boy at the railroad station and has a crush on him and tries to get his attention. She tries to get him interested in her by having him shine her shoes.
