The Thin Line Lyrics
Another hungry look, In her eyes again.
Pacing the floor, The hunt begins.
Skin-tight leather provides my pleasure.
Wake my fear, surge with the pressure.
Walk away and leave forever,
do I dare?
Raise my eyes, she stands.
Holding out healing hands...
are you happy now?
I walk the Thin Line for you.
Do just what you say to,
With fear as my friend,
I walk the Thin Line one more time for you.
Addictive face pretending, don't speak the Word.
Forbidden sin relenting, I barely heard...
screams of entry blur my vision.
Wake my fear of Divine Intervention
Crawl away and bleed forever, if you dare.
Hand on mouth the game goes on.
Love, our stage to play upon.
Are you happy now?
I walk the Thin Line for you.
Do just what you say to.
With fear as my friend,
I walk the Thin Line one more time for you.

Absolutely a BDSM tune, but it sounds enough like a normal love song on the surface that you can sneak it by nearly anyone.
Yes. I first got this album when I was oh...11? And I didn't think to myself "hey, this is totally about kink!" until I was like...26?

Ok, seriously, Exodus and Hazard are right. Case closed. BDSM. Look up the following things on Wikipedia: BDSM (for the whole song) safeword: "don't speak the Word" leather subculture: "skin-tight leather provides my pleasure" edgeplay: "walking the thin line" is a well-known euphemism for edgeplay in my leather community dominatrix
The protagonist is a male heterosexual submissive visiting a professional dominatrix (pro-domme). Women in this line of work are usually much more empowered and better-paid than other sex workers, and furthermore usually don't actually engage in vaginal, oral or anal sex with their clients. If a client is disrespectful or screws things up in the scene, he is "walking away and leaving forever" because she is paid well enough she doesn't need to trifle with losers - does he dare?
"Raise my eyes, she stands" - submissives are not allowed to look up unless ordered to. "Wake my fear of divine intervention" - apparently the protagonist is actually afraid that his guardian angel may put a stop to his abuse - that would be awful! "Hand on mouth the game goes on" - a rather primitive gag, but obviously a gag nonetheless
If you have to ask how I know all this, well, ahem let's just say I'm an expert.
It is definitely about sadomasochism. Although "screams of entry blur my vision" also made me think someone was getting it with a strap-on.

@balshan Nice analysis of the song!

To me this song at it's very core is about an illicit affair between two people where it seems one clearly has the controlling upper hand. One feels like they must do whatever it takes to comply with the others demands for fear that if they don't the other will cut them off and/or tell their wife of the affair.
It sounds to me as if his girlfreind is using him...and hes just putting up with it anywaz...
I think this one is about a sadomasochistic relationship.
hehe, learned a new word and felt the need to use it?
It's pretty much about a couple who uses S&M play for pleasure. Basically kinky sex.
@HazardPS I believe so, too! There is some very risque lyrics in this song. I love the 80's hair metal bands who wrote these types of songs! I've been listening to these songs for hours tonight! Brings back lotsa memories! They're so great!

this song is about a man who is having an affair with a woman and he shouldn't be doing it (Wake my fear, surge with the pressure. Walk away and leave forever, do I dare?)
The man does what she wants him to but he feels bad about the relationship, so he kills her...maybe strangulation: (Addictive face pretending, don't speak the Word. Forbidden sin relenting, I barely heard... screams of entry blur my vision. Wake my fear of Divine Intervention Crawl away and bleed forever, if you dare.)
(Hand on mouth the game goes on. Love, our stage to play upon. Are you happy now?)
Is this song about sex?
@Oobifan12 I think it's QUITE obvious!

"The Thin Line is about doing something for someone, that perhaps you wouldn't normally do, unless asked to. Walking on a thin line for someone is dealing with... taking that extra risk, or a chance, that it normally would't take, but to do it for a friend, or for a lover" Chris DeGarmo, Empire Japanese edition, 1990 (Integrally transcribed)
