Sing Swan Song Lyrics
She can have, she, like her birthday, sooth
To sing swan song
She gave her cold hand to he, who'd been just
A drunken hot ghost
She's sucking up again, but happy
As the day is long
She can have she, like her birthday, sooth
To sing swan song

This is such a sweet song.
I think he's saying "happy as the day's long" but the Japanese accent's making the last word sound like something else.
Can's music has very few affectations, so I find it odd to compare them to the highly self-conscious Radiohead. Also, their music is all flex and sinew: the improvisation is of a very high standard. Radiohead's music seems much more composed.
When I first heard Can I thought that Suzuki had told the band that he knew English but really didn't, so he made use of what little he knew and faked the rest. Great singer though.
Futatorious, I'm fairly certain it is 'happy as the day's long', right enough. I'm also quite sure the 'drunky hot bowls' bit is actually 'drunk and hot girls', as sampled by Kanye West in his song of that name.
I think the meaning of this song is something we've all seen and been frustrated with; a girl spending her time with a guy who doesn't nearly deserve her, but because of his own interests he spends time with her and keeps her busy and therefore she is satisfied.
I just got into Can. Where have they been my whole life!!! I LOVE them. So far from what i've heard of them, I love every song they've played. There almost as good as Radiohead, the gods of experimental rock, and that's saying something.
