In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Oh
Did everybody see this snowman
Standing in the wind alone?
When mother did that, pick his head
And you're feeling sleepy at
It's my recording, stitch remain
But I record in his head
Knowing that too big mouth
Oh, ice can flow away, no one knows
Oh, shadow coming out
While I call the story, story that
Oh, sample all about
Spinning that all the time
My powers strike me out
Did I slip this thing on their life?
And my God buying out
Oh, it gets me inside
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Did you see the day?
Every fever may I search in
We can find now harder steam
Change his kind, fly away
Oh
They're all alone there, let me in
Oh, she asked me the first day
For my name
So she wasn't going where I was singing
Mushroom head, oh yeah, paperhouse
I went day, first the game
It wasn't a game after this
Oh, shadow coming out
While I call the story, storey that
Oh, it's all about
Spinning that all the time
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Shoot all the proof and lust and shout and it's all, just you sow
Searching for my brother
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Searching for my brother, let him, let him, let him up
Oh, lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Ash you
And the hills are blue
And she's so
Got my fever, why do I go?
Got my fever, why do I go?
Got your soles into your shoes
Got my fever, why do I go?
Got my fever, why do I go?
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up
Lalalalalalalalalala, let him up

I Can't Go To Sleep

Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Are the lyrics correct? I always assumed at the ended he was shouting 'halelelelelelelelelelela-leleleleleluwah'. Hence the song title.
there are a dozen variations i have seen trying to document lyrics for this song I will have to agree with snapman on the 'halelelelelelelelelelela-leleleleleluwah' thing
trying to decipher most Can lyrics is like having Ray Charles for a bus driver....
This is the song that makes Tago Mago disc one a concept album, bringing together the mushroom and paperhouse songs (and probably Oh Yeah, too, but I couldn't say for sure). As for what it's a concept album about... God only knows.
The funny thing is, though, that even though the music is excellent, the album cover manages to be even better.
Vive Can.
One of the biggest misconceptions about this song is that it is free form .In fact it was written specifically in answer to the Velvet Underground
s "Heroin". Hence the repeated chorus of "searching for my bloodflow" NOT "brother".This was in direct answer to the chorus of "Heroin" "I
ve been searching for my mainline" . I personally talked about this with both Damo and Michael Karoli(R.I.P). It`s also in The Can book,so Anti Jehovahs.........you look foolish!@yugedralya One minor correction: "Searching for my mainline" is from Sister Ray, not Heroin. The chorus of Heroin is "Heroin, it's gonna be the death of me. Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life."<br /> <br /> The VU also performed a song live, never released on one of their albums, titled "Searching for My Mainline."
At the beginning, he says something about going to praise the lord, sleepy eyed...
Did anybody see this snowman Stand there with the lord With proper get up, hang his hat only you're feeling sleepy eyed
It's my recording station, man But I record in his head Going down to big mouth Oh the ice came down from way up north
Ooh, shadow coming out Why, it's all a story, story that Oh, sample all about Spinning that all the time
Ah, a power strike me out Did I slip this thing on their life And my God buying out Who awaits me inside
Searching for my brother, yes, I am Searching for my brother, yes, I am Searching for my brother, yes, I am Searching for my brother, yes, I am
Did you see the day Every fever may I search him You can find him, out of steam She just cried, cried away
Oh There's all a woman, just by me And she asked me if I'd stay For a night Something was going, I was sinking Mushroom head, oh yeah, paperhouse I wonder if I should go...
I'll continue this later, but I don't have time now. An incredible song, and clearly indicating Suzuki's future (and unfortunate) departure in order to become a Jehovah's Witness...
Sad things religion do to humanity...
people who live in delusion ? :P ok :)
Yes, but if everyone on Earth was a Jehova's Witness then what would be the point of continuing to go around and knock on everyone's door trying to spread your message about Jehove if everyone's already heard it. I've heard that a Jegova's Witness has to convert a certain number of people to get into heaven, if true, one of the core beliefs of the religion could not make sence, and thus the religion itself would not be able to be in existence with such a paradox, if there were no people to convert. All of humanity would be forever barred from heaven. It seems to me that, regarding this belief, the Jegova's Witnesse religion needs non Jehova's Witnesses.
I think I read somewhere that Can's lyrics were very often stream of consciousness.
This would seem to fit the bill if you ask me.
Man, I always assumed Damo was asking "are you feeling sleepy yet?" in the first stanza, the 3rd started with "moon shadow coming down" and it was "searching for my front door" (i.e. tripping so hard he can't find his front door).
Only Damo knows I suppose. Maybe he doesn't even know...
