Breaking The Silence Lyrics
Can I go wearing the black mask of fear?
The hate in my eyes always gives me away
The tension building slowly
Now I lost everything I had in you
Nothing we shared means a thing
Without you close to me
I can't live without you
Can't you hear me screaming?
I look for your face in the neon light
You never answer me
No more flame burning in my heart anymore
Quiet, I keep it to myself
Until the sun sets slowly
I hear your voice in the evening rain calling
Nothing will keep us apart
No more lies and fear
There's no end to our story
Can't you hear me screaming?
I look for your face in the neon light
You never answer
I could make all the wrong seem right
If you were by my side
I'd gather all the tears you cried
And hide them deep underground
Can't erase this hate from my eyes
Through the streets I'm screaming
Looking for you in the neon light
Why don't you answer me?
Breaking the silence with my cries
Can't you hear me screaming?
We could make all this wrong seem right
But you never answer me

i cant believe im the first one to talk about this song. this is such a great song, though im not a huge queensryche fan. anywho, i think its about a guy who lost his girlfriend or wife or whatever, and now hes suffering a lot, pretty simple song, but cool nontheless

"lost his girlfriend, or wife, or whatever"??? LOL, I'll say one thing, yes, you definitely are not a huge Ryche fan. This song can not be removed from the context of the whole album - which is about mind control, murder, and hope.

Uhm, yes it can, the song is simply about the main character's (Nikki) reaction to just finding Mary dead and he 'breaks the silence' of the night by screaming her name

This is one of the songs on Operation: Mindcrime that make me feel bad for Nikki. It shows how much he loved Mary. My second favorite song on the album (the Needle Lies is my favorite ;D) Empire1987 has it right.

Definitely his reaction to finding Mary dead, and I take this one as Nikki spending the day in catatonic silence, then completely snapping, wandering through the night screaming her name and probably babbling nonsense in between, his grief and the broken mind control combining to leave him broken and detached from reality for the night, unable to tell the difference between reality and things popping up in his head.
Damn that's a bunch of commas.
