At the $5.99 buffet
In reno on thanksgiving day
Nobody seemed to care
Why anyone else was there

Me and my buddy jay
Watched bad cover bands play
Got little drinks for free
Kept betting on twenty-three

We got drunk
We got sad
I met a girl who
Said she could save me

She said "I am a hug
I wrap around you and I scrub
You're made of dirt my dear
I scrub until you disappear

That's what absolution means"
She put a dollar in a slot machine
Three triple bars came up we won six
Hundred bucks

We got stoned
We had sex
I dreamt that I was
Evel knievel

This transcription is missing the payoff bridge and final verse...

"Some of this is true...some of this is better. We got drunk, we got sad. DID NOT meet a girl who said she could save me. We got stoned, DID NOT have sex. Really had that dream about Evil Knievel."

Reminds me of a cheap date (of 7 months:) I had years ago. He called around Thanksgiving morning until he found the place that had the most inexpensive holiday buffet ($5) even though he made the big figures with the space program. Ended up eating canned turkey loaf and we weren't allowed a second trip to the buffet! It was perhaps my most interesting yet saddest Thanksgiving holiday ('cause he was an arse). With that said, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you who will celebrate the holiday today. God bless you, but especially those who have no home; no family; no friends; and little hope. May there be some joy experienced today through the many charities and individuals who reach out to you with smiles; conversation; and a warm meal...

Just spent 3 days in Reno. Perfect city for that song.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
