venus blue = mother earth
I can't really make the connection to the environment. To me the whole theme of the song, the lyrics and the dark despaired empty melody seems to fit more with just the illustration of a bad hallucinogenic trip and the emptiness that preceeds any drug use.
The line "i eat the razor, a mouthfull of god's flesh" makes this even more clear in my opinion, since the common hallucinogenic mushroom was holy in south america, and the native american's called it "the flesh of gods". He's literally saying "i stuff my mouth with magic mushrooms to kill off the pain, like one would commit suicide with razors, except i eat my release instead"

Having had a death/rebirth experience on psychedelic mushrooms I'm sure I know what this song means. "I eat the razor a mouth full of God's Flesh" is saying. I'm eating mushrooms to split open my mind. " I taste the wreckage of crumbling faces. I know the pale thing in the darkest of places" are meant to explain the ultimate truths and feelings the mushrooms uncover within you. Every single lyric represents the feeling of being washed away in a mushroom trip except the " I cut their throats why they slept" verse. Even then it could have been him hallucinating murdering someone. Acid Bath has many songs with violence in them so it was fitting I guess. And last but not least Venus Blue is the color psilocybin mushrooms bruise when handled. Easy reference to pick up if you know ????.

Ok maybe Venus represents both the planet, which I doubt somewhat, and the goddess. Venus was the goddess of sex, fertility, beauty, love, etc.. "Dead Venus blue" could be about how our, or the Earth's, beauty is dead due to our pollution, etc...Since Venus is also the goddess of fertility it makes me think that there's a connection with that and how the Earth gives us everything we need to survive, yet we destroy her. I think the "I peel back my skull for you..." means "I do everything I can" if you literally peel back your skull you see your brain, your control center. Of course, as with all Acid Bath songs, I get a sense of necrophilia. "I taste the wreckage of crumbling faces I know the pale thing in the darkest of places" Literally tasting a decaying face either through cannabalism or something more sexual, the pale thing is a body (caucasian) in a tomb/grave. Anyway, there's more to it than I'm ever gonna know, but that's some of the things that come to mind.

As far as I'm concerned, I think it's about nature as well. For those of you who haven't made the connection yet, Venus is relatively the same size of earth...but earth is blue as it has oceans and shit.
I agree with this song. Beign about earth and how we dessecrate it. Especially the line "The lovely one screams like she's caught between stations" i always viewed this as beign caught between its own natural state and humans.

well when I read it I though it sounded like it was about a serial killer and a lot like Ed Gein. He was taught by his mother about her religious beliefs which later was one of the reason why he ended up killing women because his mom told him women were all prostitutes and bad.
