Bangs Lyrics
Bangs
above your eyes your hair hangs
Blow my mind your royal flyness I dig your bangs
Bangs to drape across your forehead
to swing concordant angles as you incline your head
Once with a girl I fell in love sometime ago now she had
Bangs are that on which the world hangs
I'm only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs
Bangs are like a pocket T-shirt as casual as that while fully intentional
And in case you think i'm here cause I like making chit-chat
Just remember what I said the money's under your hat
And although I like you anyway, check out your haircut
A proscenium to stage a face that needs no makeup
Bangs are that on which the world hangs
I'm only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs
above your eyes your hair hangs
Blow my mind your royal flyness I dig your bangs
Bangs to drape across your forehead
to swing concordant angles as you incline your head

I think it's a metaphor. In a way it's making fun of people's obsession with womens chests. Its using bangs to say, if I use this everyone thinks it's weird, but not if its about breasts.
This song makes me laugh I love this song
Ahaha. A song about hair. Brilliant.
Emily, is it just a coincidence that you posted this on 4/20?
She didn't.
as literal as it gets.
This song is so fun. I think most men have something that they happen to find attractive in girls, be it a hair style, or hair color, or anything. In this song, he has a thing for bangs, and he's letting the girl know that he's attracted to her as she is. He loves her hairstyle, but more importantly, he loves her.
The line "A proscenium to stage a face that needs no makeup" bugs me, though. Maybe its the theater nerd in me, but technically it should read "A proscenium to frame a face that needs no makeup", because the proscenium is basically the frame of a stage, much like a hairstyle frames a face.
@halfwaynowhere Come on now, I used to be a theatre nerd too and we both (should) know that the proscenium arch is the top of the opening of the stage into the house, which is usually very ornate. Especially in older theatres. Her bangs are the beautiful proscenium above her gorgeous make-up free face.

I imagine that what happened here is that the girl said something like "Didn't you even notice my new bangs?" and the guy went all out trying to make up for the fact that he doesn't really like the bangs, just doesn't want to hurt her feelings. Great song!
