Fixation on the Darkness Lyrics

Fixation on the darkness that engulfs this world drain the life force of our people change return to the womb new life lay your head to rest mercy to give you a piece of mind lay your head to rest come together inside this body is only a shell change the only way we will survive light transfiguration of the soul of the mind tell them they will not hold us down it's time for a change.

I LOVE KILLSWITCH! They're awesome cuz although they have a hardcore sound, they have a positive message...BEST LINE: "COME TOGETHER INSIDE... YOUR BODY IS ONLY A SHELL.." I think this song is about being real to yourself. There's a bunch of "trends" and "paperdolls" in the world (which is being fixated on the darkness) but if you focus on your own goals and don't care what others think - that's when you'll find your way... "return to the womb" - be who you were when you first came into the world - knowing nothing, learning by experience, completely naked to what society has to offer. "tell them they will not hold us down".. the "weak inner demons" that are inside that sometimes just conform and give in to whatever there is to offer..being true to yourself will get you farther. "ITS TIME FOR CHANGE.." The war of CONFORMITY VS CHANGE is about to begin...

Interview with Jesse Leach before he left the band: "Fixation on the Darkness" to me is really about what the title says. It's really just looking inside yourself, we all have that darkness, and we all have that light, and just finding the balance between these two things. But for that particular song, I'm really looking at the dark side of things and that change can be made, and there are ways to overcome your situation and your problems, and the dark side of your soul."

This song to me right now says that the world is an ugly place. It may be that I've seen Boondock Saints one too many times but listening to this makes me want to go out and frag every worthless moron/druggie/criminal person that doesn't contribute to other's lives in a positive way.

I love the "return to the womb" line, like its time to be made new again, get rid of all the bullshit from your life and become pure again.

I watched these guys last night (they were fucking amazing, obviously) and Adam Dutkiewicz introduced the song by saying: "This next song is about when Howard Jones was a small boy, he was building a model airoplane and he got some super glue on his hands, it's called Fixation on the darkness".

'and frag every worthless moron/druggie/criminal person that doesn't contribute to other's lives in a positive way.'

Don't stereotype, my child. Druggies are more docile than you can ever imagine. Many people who 'contributed' so much to others peoples lives, especially through Music or Literature, used many drugs. Many 'a many 'o drugs they used. LSD, Marijuana, etc etc.

Good band, good song. Howard has a nice set of pipes.. but I miss the man right here, baby~!

I hate Metal normally, KSE is a band I actually have a respect for, and they don't sound too bad. I wish their old lead singer was still there (I can't stand their new one) but they were good, it was a pleasure to purchase their first album and I normally hate that thrashy-type sound, but there's something about them that hits the right spots. I love their whole melodic thrash combo they got going, sounds awesome :-D

again, i said it on another song and i'll say it on this one, it seems that a lot of KsE songs have a very spiritual underpinning. This song appears to be about a person allowing themselves to be reborn, allowing themselves to change, and not letting society hold them down. This song is beautiful, through and through :D
