Medicate Lyrics

I got somethin' up my sleeve
I know you will cover me
Inside out and in between
I know you will cover me
I've got bruises on my knees
I know you will cover me
Inside out and in between
And I know you will cover me

[Chorus:]
Run away
Make hate
And get laid
And get laid
You tie me up
I've had enough
So medicate
Medicate

I'm already incomplete
I know you will cover me
Looking by your empathy
I know you will cover me
I've been lyin' here for weeks
I know you will cover me
Inside out and in between
And I know you will cover me

[Chorus x3]

all these people are right the lyrics are wrong.

However I believe we all know this song is about treating problems with meaningless sex.

Obviously its about self-medicating. Its an Anthem for anyone whose drug of choice is sex.

"Ive got something up my sleeve" Like a magic trick how you can just make someone fall for you so easily. / Or you’re hiding something.

"I know you will cover me" Like a cover-up for your own ‘problems’. Being with someone keeps everyone from realizing how apathetic you actually are. You don’t really care about them, youre just using them.

"Inside out and inbetween" Twisting everything to your own advantage. Maybe this person may actually love you. They want to fix you and take care of all your problems. But you prey on their empathy, and use it against them. Like how when you open up to someone, it just actually makes them more vulnerable… Being with them makes you seem more ‘normal.’ But you don’t feel anything for them "I know you will cover me" (“Comfort” or “Cover”<- kinda interchangeable, it sounds like they use both throughout the song) "I know you will comfort me" …"Get laid." For them its love, for you its just fucking. "So get laid. WE get laid " Makes the tone of this whole tone of this song seem kinda prideful. -Youre not going to feel bad about what youre doing or anyone you may hurt. And at the same times it’s comforting to know youre not the only one who does this, so its okay. OR it could just be a guy thing to just throw “We get laid” into a song. Haha idk, but it’s def makes it a little more badass

"Ive been lying here for weeks" Youre depressed, or whatever your own disorder is… you need to medicate to feel better/ to feel alive. Youre medicating to cover it up. — "I know you will cover me"

"Run away, Make Hate Get laid, We get Laid Tie me up, Ive had enough Medicate"

Maybe you just don’t feel loved. Youre reaching out for that attention, you get laid to feel close to someone. But once you do get what you were looking for, you throw it away, because youre just medicating and you don’t want to feel. You don’t want to feel vulnerable, it scares you, so you run away. Youre running away from everything, from your problems and from love (which might be the cure to all your problems). So its like a cycle Plus by using people you could be hurting them. Throwing them into a similar cycle. So the whole chorus works in the command form too. Telling everyone to just run away form your problems, and get laid. If that hurts other people, whatever — "Make hate."

I have the CD, and those lyrics are correct that dumbblonde posted. They're on their website (www.hollywoodrecords.go.com/breakingbenjamin). So it would be an idea to get them corrected really...

As for the song, as I said in another set of lyrcis for BB, it's hard to decipher the meanings from some of their songs. I think Ben is a brilliant lyricist. The song's meaning...I don't really know myself. Could be to do with drugs. I could be completely missing the mark...

to me this song is just about vices....sex games, drugs and rebellion/anarchy....basially just about the stereotypical view of 'fun'

Simple enough, this song is about medicating yourself with sex, alcoholism, or any other vice to hide away from facing your problems. Saturating yourself with these vices. Simple song.

this is one of the best songs on the cd...its awesome i really like there lyrics and they are gonna be huge

Are those lyrics right? It sounds like it should be "You Turn Me Up" and Take it up, but I'm not really very good @ figuring out lyrics, so maybe not

Cover art for Medicate lyrics by Breaking Benjamin

heh. they`re not the right lyrics.

its not 'run away, make haste..we get there late.' ha, it doesnt even sound like that! it`s 'run away, make hate, and get laid.' yeaaa :]

im not sure about the take it up/turn me up thing though. i think he says turn IT up. oh well. theyre great either way.

if anyone has the cd.. do y`all know what the hell the hidden track is called? (number 13.) i fuckin' love that song and i have no idea what it is ha!

He does say turn it up..and the name of the hidden track is "Forever"...or that's what Wikipedia says anyway.

The correct lyrics for the chorus are: 'Run away, make hate, and get laid, we get laid, you turn me up, I've had enough, so medicate, medicate'
