This song is about the complete agony and desperaton of falling in love.

Although beautiful, the song can be gloomy in some perspectives.

For example: "And I've been secretly falling apart" "you turn every head, but you don't see me" "sometimes the last thing you want comes in first, sometimes the first thing you want never comes,"

But it's a genius song. Everyone can relate to it. Good Job, Aqualung.

This was on the OC was it not? I think its more of a secret admirer than a stalker Kind of the whole she doesnt know he exists kind of thing. And he loves her, and wants her to be in love with him. So the whole 'I put a spell on you' thing is him wishing that she'd notice him.

I was thinking that maybe this might mean that he's wishing and trying to get her to notice him and when she does notice she'll 'wake up' and realise she loves him. That was just a random thing I thought. I just think this song is beautiful though. Its so honest (Sometimes the last thing you want comes in first. Sometimes the first thing you want never comes. I know that waiting is all you can do, sometimes) and yets its so hopeful and has a sense of not giving up. Its just amazing.

its about loving someone who doesnt know that you do your watching them all the time and wishing they knew and they felt the same way by putting a spell on them to make them feel the same way.

My good friend played this song for me, and from the first line, "I've been watching your world from afar," I knew the entire song would click with me.

The spell is definately metaphorical for finally getting that one person that rocks your world, whether they know it or not, to notice you.

And while we're on the subject, my friend also told me that this is how he felt about me...and the song was a spell. We're together now.

My favorite part of the song, though, is the refraine..."sometimes the last thing you want comes in first, sometimes the first thing you want never comes, I know the waiting is all you can do, sometimes,"

The statement is true. But what I love about it is how they go back and say, "I know...sometimes." It's so much about human nature, you know something that is hard to accept, but you don't always know it.

Waiting for that one thing you want can be so hard, and sometimes, it never comes. And there comes a point where the only thing you really can do IS wait, even if it doesn't come, including that person you really want.

I love this song, it will hold a special place in me for a very, very long time.

And Sal, this song just goes to show how important that unrequited (I love that word) can be to someone, even though they might never get it.

i love how haunting this song is. and how it points towards a Midsummer Night's Dream in the ff verses: "I'll put a spell on you, you fall asleep I'll put a spell on you, and when i wake you, I'll be the first thing you see. and you'll realise that you love me."

i have to completely agree with celinus. Midsummer Night's Dream is one of my favorite books and i love how it totally relates.....this song is about being infatuated with someone who doesnt even know your existance and the longing that someday they'll notice you and realise they love you...bittersweet
