Little Wing Lyrics

Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running wild
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and a fairy tale
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding the wind

When I'm sad she comes to me
With a thousand smiles she gives to me free
It's alright she says...It's alright
Take anything you want from me
Anything

Fly on little wing
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Fly on little wing

One of the most beautiful songs ever written words cant describe what it means when you hear it.

JIMI LAID THE GROUNDWORK FOR THIS GUYS SEMI-OK CAREER...JIMI IS GOD. EVERYONE ONE ELSE JUST TRIES TO GET CLOSE!!!!!

This song is beautiful. SRV's guitar sings here. I absolutely love this song - to me this is Jimi's finest creation, and this remake is an incredible tribute and achievment. If anyone wants to know what blues guitar is all about, play both the JH and SRV version of this tune. They go as a pair, complementary, not competitive. First, listen to Jimi's version, and understand the lyrics as a tribute to a woman's ability to bring a man's world to right. Then, listen to Stevie's version, as the guitar perfects the emotion and expands that appreciation. This is music at its best, friends.

I've heard both and I concur. Stevie will always be my favorite guitarist. He played that instrument as though it was an extention of his arm.

good for you. good for you.

The SRV version puts Jimi to shame. RIP Stevie AND Jimi.

I disagree, the ultimate guitar battle would be Jimi vs. SRV

PeeWee,

Jimi Hendrix was very influential, but that doesnt mean he laid the 'groundwork' for Stevie's career. And when it comes to technical ability and PURE SKILL - SRV puts Jimi to utter shame. Jimi was sloppier than Puerto Rican prostitute pussy and when it came to sounding good live he just left something to be desired. But, for his time, he was awesome and opened doors for a lot of guitarists. But think about the airplanes in 40's ... they laid the groundwork for newer, more modern planes, and the new ones are far superior - yet wouldn't exist without the earlier models.

And until you have some credentials to critique someone's guitar playing ability - I'd strongly suggest you keep quiet. Is it not better to look like an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt?

@hemobotep Indeed! Though, referencing the quote, would have been punctuated your point all the better: "Tis better by far to remain silent, and let them think you a fool, than to speak out, and remove any doubt!' President Abraham Lincoln

Semi-OK career? Jimi was no doubt a huge influence to SRV, but you can't honestly think that SRV was just some small fluke! His career was amazing, and his covers of Jimi's work made it so much cleaner.

Little Wing and Voodoo Chile are prime examples of Stevie's ability to polish what Jimi made. Stevie had some of the smoothest and most amazingly clear playing for his speed. And when he wrote it was straight from the heart...

Jimi did revolutionize how the guitar was played, but Stevie set the bar for how to play it.

Anyways... Stevie does an amazing cover of Little Wing--that does Jimi great justice. Definately a favorite song of mine (both Jimi and Stevie's).

Also interesting to listen to this and then Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. The words are entirely different, but the intro guitars are very similar. Pearl Jam plays it a little faster, and with a slightly different rhythm, but if you listen you should recognize that it's a very close copy of Little Wing.

Gotta love the works by all three artists

dude! i thought i was the only one who noticed that Yellow Ledbetter sounds like it alot. Its part of the reason i love that song. but i love this one more

Agree. PJ "Borrows" from Hendrix.

Stevie covered a lot of Hendrix's songs, but this is by far his best, IMO. I don't think it should even be considered a cover, because this version takes the song to a new level. I first heard the song about two weeks ago, and I've been hooked on SRV ever since. I haven't heard a version done by SRV with the words yet, though. Are you sure it's not only the instrumental version?
