In This World Lyrics

lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself

Good time's the devil i'm a force of heaven
Good time's the devil i'm a force of heaven
Good time's the devil i'm a force of heaven

lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself

So many time's i'm down down down
So many time's i'm down down down
So many time's i'm down down down with the ground

lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself
Whoa, in this world
Whoa, in this world
Whoa, in this world

lordy don't leave me all by myself
lordy don't leave me all by myself

"Please don't leave me alone in this cold world without a friend."

i agree with maxi's comment. i also agree on the music video thing...i haven't even seen it because this song is too close to my heart, i don't think it should've been made into something silly...but maybe i'm just a jerk.

i listen to this song when i am depressed. it's usually when i am already crying or on the verge of tears. there is some beautiful release possible from the vocals paired with the powerful lyrics, even though there are few[though repeated]. the music itself is beautiful, as well.

there's something so heartbreakingly vulnerable and hopeless in this song...and i suppose that is why i always seem to come back to it when i am at my lowest. "down with the ground" indeed...and when she breaks into the "in this world" part, i'm guaranteed in tears.

a very touching track.

I'd like to make note of the hauntingly brilliant vocals of Jennifer Price in this song. I'm not much of a fan of Moby at all, but I love this song dearly.

I have only seen the music video for this song once and never plan on seeing it again. I was very much intrigued in what deeply emotional video was created for such a beautiful song. I was quite dismayed to see a bunch of CGI aliens wandering around. Oh well.

I think the actual meaning of this song is quite obvious. Please don't leave me alone in this cold world without a friend.

sometimes we are too busy attending ourselves that we forget about others - we dont pay attention to the little things that some people who find it hard to express themselves do to find love...I can tell this because of personal experience - sometimes people dont tend to understand the feelings of those forgotten people until the moment they feel lonely themselves...

Could "lordy" be a reference to God? Maybe someone asking help to God cause they're not able to find happiness in this world.

no shit

Before I read the lyrics, I always heard the words as "Lord is gonna leave me... All by myself".

I thought that referred to Jesus' crucifixion, a musical interpretation of his overwhelming despair in the moment where he says "My God My God, why have you forsaken me?"

I could make out none of the other words of the song except "with the ground" and "in this world", and assumed all the lyrics supported that meaning.

I thought it more generally was supposed to reflect the helplessness, loneliness and fear of death that's a deep, essential aspect of the living condition - the shadow side of the intense drive to act, love, and fight for life. So I felt it was an incredible powerful, basic and raw song about the dark side of being a living creature on Earth.

Then I saw the video and, worse, read the lyrics, and now I'm not sure what to think. Who is Lordy? Is it just another word for Lord? If my interpretation was wrong, what does the song mean? What does it mean that: "good times is the Devil" (why?) "I'm a force of heaven"... (?)

Now I reinterpret that perhaps it is a song about feeling marooned in an alien world (Earth) where nothing makes sense, and there's no one even remotely like you, and the spaceship takes off without you.

But again, what does "Lordy" mean?
